It costs nothing to dream and by pre-ordering without risk of penalty, it allows all of us to do just that. I'd be curious to see the number of cancellations received by the online dealers that do charge a percentage in penalty. I'm willing to bet that it's significantly lower. The same unknown variables apply, but when you know ahead of time that there IS a penalty, you tend to be more serious in your preorders.
I don't think it's a matter of being serious or not, I'd wager every preorder is serious but with the comfort of knowing they're not locked in or penalized, they have the freedom of taking a chance to get a sought after collectible. If Sideshow penalized cancellations, I wouldn't order more "seriously" I would just have to give a better examination of my financial status and look at what lies ahead to make sure that I felt it would be feasible to pay for the item when the time comes, and if I was concerned that there would be trouble, then I'd have to say no I can't order this. Sideshow's policy is fantastic and should stay as it is, it works with the unpredictability of life, and that's an important thing for these companies to respect and cater to, collector's are passionate people and sometimes our passion makes the choice for us, not reason, and when reason comes into play we have to say no but by not having fear of penalty, our passion can thrive and often be rewarded.
