I think that a lot of us had the small Frodo VS. Gollum diorama in mind when we heard about this. I for one didn't think it would be as large as this--particularly the base. Considering the size, I would say that this is an acceptable price, in line with other VS. dioramas of this size.

Right. When I read they said LOTR was gonna have the Dio's line I thought right away about the Marvel then they went cheaper. Figured the SW would be along the same lines as Marvel but thought maybe they might go with LOTR. Overall, for what we're getting it looks like it's worth it.

I feel bad for the retailers who are there looking at all those exclusives and saying, "Thanks a lot, Gentle Giant!!! I can't wait to NOT offer all that stuff to my customers!"

That's the same thing I was thinking.

If the exclusive is something as cool as light up base (ala x-men dio) than I'll pay the price for sure! I think it's a bit pricey, but for the retail (230ish) I think it's not bad. If this was ROTJ I would not question the price though, I know I'm being harder because it's PT. Still a very cool, and by the looks of it HUGE piece!

From all the pics I've seen, I'm guessing there is no exclusive. Which is a huge let down. Sorry SS, you spoiled us with the Marvel VS pieces that had light up exclusives. The base on this could have been great with a few lights. At least that means if I do crack and get this, I'll be saving some money.

I'm leaning that way too. If there's no exclusive, it'll still be cheaper for me to go through an e-tailer than from the EU Warehouse. (Although I don't need this piece to light up to consider it a masterpiece. Not at all. I'd much rather have a separate Lava Droid accessory, truth be told.)

Even though 70% of my preorders have been through Sideshow ever since they introduced points and allowed me to use EUW, in major cases such as this one I just have to cut corners. Especially if such corners climb up to a hundred bucks!

The way they made the Ghostrider flames is pure awesomeness. Even under indirect lighting, from certain angles it gets illuminated without needing any lights inside. Bad ass!
