Grievous. If you read anything besides what's in the movie then you'd agree. Labyrinth of Evil is a great book that shows how intelligent he really is. And of course, Clone Wars were great.

And besides, who can argue with the great pre-cyborg grievous concept:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this poll based only on the movies?

I'll give to to Grievous, both characters could have been better used. But, I think overall he was more interesting, although Gothmog has an interesting brutality to him.

I am going to be honest here and it's not meant to be offensive to anyone, BUT Gothmog was a cripple who gave a few orders and did nothing more.

While Grisvous did NOT live up to his billing in ROTS he did at least fight some and had some action that was pretty cool.

While I am a big LOTR fan as well as a Star Wars fan, I see votes for Gothmog as being nothing, but "homer" votes from people who like LOTR more than SW rather that really judging these two characters.

This is correct!

Remember last week when discussed the merits of EU Dooku, but he didn't get the votes because we were only looking at the movies. Movie only Grievous coughed a lot, ran away a lot, and got his arms chopped off ten seconds into his first on screen battle before running away again.

"Release the prisoners!!!"

I also had to go with the General....based on the movie.
There was more substance to the General than Gothmog.

GG's actions were as a General on a mission whereas Gothmog was portrayed as just a brutal warrior.

I'm sorry, the only thing Gothmog did in ROTK was stab a guy that was already dying and spit on a rock.

I just dig Grievous more. Yes, he wasn't developed and he ran away, but how cool was it when his arms came apart and he started swinging those lightsaber around? I also thought the wheel bike was pretty cool. And his death scene was unique to say the least. I think he was just a better character to watch.

One thing I really liked about Gothmog is he sounded like Darkseid from the old cartoons... not sure if it was intentional, or the same voice actor, but I thought that was cool.

Gothmog reminded me of Sloth from The Goonies, and I couldn't get past that association the first few times I saw ROTK.

Thanks, Tom! Now I'm going to have Sloth on my mind every time I see Gothmog.

I knew that the second I saw ROTK. :lol

My Vote: Gothmog. Grievous is a coward.

If you're going soley on the movies (which I know is what this poll is supposed to be), I guess you're right. He still had far better scenes than Gothmog but GL certainly didn't utilize Grievous nearly as well as anyone with half a brain would've.

Gothmog never raised my expectations then didn't follow through. And he's named after the King of the Balrogs. Moggy all the way.

Good point about expectations CM, Grievous has to rank as one of the all-time worst and underused villains. Gothmog certainly didn't have the hype to measure up to. Sure Grievous has a nice look to him, but wow --- what a boring fight.

Gothmog.

Grievous.

He looked cooler, fought with four (!) lightsabers, had a sweet cycle chase and the best mano-a-cyborg fistfight since Reese vs. the T800 Endoskeleton.

Gothmog was cool but theatrically you never even saw what happened to him. I hate unfulfilled expectations. So Grievous it is.

Plus Grievous was briefly in possession of the lightsaber that Luke would one day wield against his father on Cloud City. And that's just cool.

Based on the movies, I had to go with Gothmog. His character fit into the plot and story, whereas Grievous was barely an afterthought, sadly. I thought that Maul was poorly developed and utilized and he got twice as much script attention/development than Grievous and that's not saying much. It's like some of GL's CGI.....scenery not substance.

I had to go with Grievous he just looks cooler and was a bad mofo in Clone Wars. If you haven't seen Clone wars yet Starwars.com used to have chapter 21 - 25 up for viewing in quicktime. The others they had available if you were a hyperspace member. You could just go pick up the DVD too.

Tom I love these polls I think they are a great idea.

Is it just me or are LOTR fans primarily voting for the Gothmog and SW fans Grievous?

Never would've expected that to happen

I'm a fan of both. I do prefer LOTR a lot more than SW and I voted for Greivous.
