Alien 3 isn't a bad movie. It at least has a plot and that makes it better than Terminator Salvation.

I think good or bad, they're banking on the three installments to tell one complete story which will either hurt them in the end or make most of those who didn't like it rethink their positions on the film.

So wait, someone here doesn't like T2? I thought that it was required to cherish it in order to join the board...

also i read that fincher disowned the film and left production before editing began, citing studio interference. that should tell you what he thinks of the film. glad he moved on to better things.

I agree with cameron. AvP was the 3rd best in the alien series and second best in the predator series. Now AvPR sucked terribly.

Ok guys from reading your comments. How could you say AVP was better than Alien 3, are you crazy!! I thought Alien 3 was dark, gothic, with the mood of sacrifice and bravery and also an emotional film. It is more of an arthouse movie than the previous movie. And from seeing the directors cut, I loved it even more. All three movies are excellent and unique in their own ways.
A lot of people just do not understand Alien 3, I get it though, its just too mature for you guys.

Alien 3 rocks. Cameron can suck it.

It was the most ballsiest sequel ever. Theres a lot of good stuff in that movie, but most people ignore it because they want Aliens 2.

I dig Res....but it's not very good. :lol

Ballsy doesn't mean good though. The movie was bland..it lacked everything that made the first two great. Aliens 3 can suck it.

what's not to understand? it went from A to B to C in a very clear and predictable way. you mean it's "mature" because it employs the theme of sacrifice and bravery? then i guess michael bay movies are all mature as well, because that's the recurring theme in his films.

oh i get alien 3. it's your most standard slasher flick, but with alien in it. it's as mature as a 5th grade kid.

Extended cut or no, it was still a boring rehash of the original, completely uninspiring in it's lack of originality and added nothing whatsoever to the Alien saga that wasn't already there, done considerably better, in the first film.

There's an extended Alien 3 Cut?? I liked A3 in it's original form. How much better is the Ex cut?

ALOT BETTER.

Regardless of how much Alien 3 copied the original I don't really care because to me it worked.
Something new would have been nice but I'm glad ( to me anyway ) it wasn't something terrible.

Dont you tell us what to do.

Anyway, To me, Alien 3 is fantastic for the Ripley character. The film shows how this thing has ruined EVERYTHING in her life. Her friends, her daughter, Newt, Hicks...everything was taken away from her. And then she finds out she is carrying the creature herself. She takes action, in a way more important then she did in Aliens. She's fighting for earth. She is the hero of mankind.

I dont know, something about that is just horribley depressing...but in a good way. Which is why I love Alien 3. That, and it looks amazing. And that end is just amazing. Her grabbing the Queen in the last few seconds she has.....brilliant.

CelticP I respect you a lot now. You just described the movie in perfection, its a shame people still do not get Alien 3, they just expected more gun action, more bigger stuff than Aliens. Ripley died a hero, which they dont like.

Well, the movie made me at least want to buy the Marcus Wright figure, I'd love to have John Connor and Marcus Wright posed back to back against a bunch of T-700s, but alas, I don't have $800 to spend, but I guess that's why they make 3 3/4 figures, hunh? haha

Too bad Kyle Reese was a kid in this one, he could use a fig too.

I've always loved Alien 3...but it wasnt until I got the Quad that I really "got it". Not that it's a deep and complex film...but theres more to it then bald dudes with british accents. And ^^^^s. Lots of ^^^^s.

It's ironic that Alien3 is being called a bad, lazy sequel in a T:Salvation thread. :lol
Salvation is filler, at best. The only mildly interesting bits are the Marcus character, because he is the only "new" element on display and because Worthington looks like a master of restraint compared to Bale's horrendus whisperSCREAM, and the look of the film which was lifted from Janusz Kaminski's recycle bin.
Ripley goes below rock-bottom and resorts to suicide as the ultimate sacrifice and the only escape from the nightmare her life has become.
The most interesting thing John Connor does is have off-screen surgery.
