Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

And i enjoyed the FPS scenes, they mixed things up abit and showed how frenetic it would be to swing as Spider-Man

Agreed, first movie where FPS POV actually worked well imo. In other movies it just seemed cheesy. Pretty innovative way to use it.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I saw this in 3D

My first time seeing anything in 3D, at first i didn't like it as the glasses darkened everything, i thought they'd compenate by making the picture brighter, but no. Anyway there didn't seem to be alot of 3D, the parts i could remember distinctly, were the Oscorp hologram, and most shots of Spider-Man swinging, the final shot where he shoots web at you was AWESOME!!!

Since

they didn't kill him off, they needed a reason for him to not to become the Lizard in prison by getting all aggitated and triggering it, hence the Serum to transform. With the scene demonstrating his thoughts i see it as the Lizard brain taking over and making him do these evil plots, like Dock Ock in SM2

3D today isn't about popping out. It's about popping in.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Wears his father's glasses while hipstering, not poor, falls into an old wrestling ring, Norman Osborn is Peter Weyland, utilizes Oscorp technology & hot toys instructions to make web shooters, Captain Stacy doesn't die because of Doc Ock and Spider-Man battling/doesn't save little kid, everyone knows who Peter Parker is, Spider-Man don't ride no stinking skateboards . . .

Skateboarding was just a hobby that doesn't affect his intelligence or character, I don't see how that bastardises anything. He didn't seem rich to me? In the comics he develops the web fluid in several differant ways, not much differant then here, where he's simply taking it from the same Spider species who bit him. They happen to be possesed by Oscorp but he still develops his own formula/version of it. Connors is married in the film, he wears a ring and there was an actress who played his wife but her scenes were cut. He's still alive so his son and wife could easily appear in a sequel. Norman dying maybe a roose, that could simply be the story he wants people to believe to cover up something else. For alot of that we will have to wait and see how it plays out in the sequel before you can say anything for sure.

I will definately give you Stacy's death though, but I suspect the reason is Octavious isn't a character they want to redo. They still should have done it more accurately like by having the collapsing tower fall on him.

Not a big deal anyone considering Green goblin threw "Mary Jane Watson" off the bridge in the original film.

_____________

Think there'll be an extended cut with some of these scenes from the trailers that were cut from the threatrical?

Costumes are kinda bad.

i can absolutley see why they didn't go with these, too much of a drastic change

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Just got back from watching it. Great movie. The background and side stories were all interesting and I did not feel a moment of it moving too slow. The cast was great...Aunt May was casted a little young for what we're use to (which I though was great).

Lots of interesting items that came from this movie...all I have yet to completely digest. The budding friendship between Peter and Flash was a nice pre-cursor to what could be.

I would see it again in a heart beat. I feel a lot more satisfied than after the first 3.

This may sound silly but 3D works best when you don't realise it's there. There will always be parts that pop out of the screen but it works best when it adds depth to scenes like the POV and swinging scenes. I took my glasses off briefly and it's surprising how flat it looks without the glasses (in certain scenes).

Avatar and Prometheus did the whole 'popping into the film' 3D effect well.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

When the hell was Curt Connors ever a creepy single British guy who had semi-control over his Lizard personality? In the comics and animated series, he's a dedicated family man and has no control over the Lizard's urges. This Lizard seem to know what he was doing.

He has a wedding ring on his hand in the movie and in the comics, he has been intelligent as the Lizard many times. :dunno

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Yeah some of the shots really did pop out of the screen at you, which was very cool.

Although this was rated a 12 it seemed alot more adult than the previous films.

in cinematography, story and there was that scene where Lizard leapt out of no where and surprised gwen in the locker. Starttled the hell out of me, Not for kids.

Not "popping out", but the 3D looked awesome when
Stacy dies
and all of that stuff was floating in the air.

Yeah, the FPS was used very well. The short snippets showed you how crazy it would be to move like him, but didn't last long enough to get cheesy. I was dreading a DOOM movie-like sequence.

Also, can we make this a Spoiler Zone thread now?

The Lizard got barraged with machine gun fire and it just stung him till he finally fell down, but Spidey got shot once in the leg and he is stumbling? I thought he had tougher skin that repels firearm since he is superhuman.

He's not Superman. Or Luke Cage even. I thought it was quite a show of strength and perseverance to get as far as he did with a bullet wound in him. A normal person wouldn't have gotten anywhere after that. To be up and running and fighting fairly soon after was impressive.

Now that I think about it, Spider-Man is rarely shot in any incarnation, is he?

Well it didn't just sting him they at the very least pierced his reptillian hide and he fell unconcious, as the officer apporached you could see his would healing and then he awoke.

He's too fast usually to be shot. I agree though fighting through the pain is what makes him heroic.
