After a while probably. I certainly wouldn't want all comic book movies done like it but as an experiment I enjoyed it for what it was. A bit like JJ with his light flares.

But do you not think that Bruce Banner the character is neglicted in the more recent comics? I loved how he was portrayed in the tv series as a tragic character.

So I just rewatched the first spider-man and I realized something about the comparisons. Although the scenes are pretty much page by page, those who are saying they are still different movies are absolutely correct.

The first spider-man had many great moments that I think we forgot about. Mary Jane's parents fighting, Peter unable to even speak to her in the cafeteria, Peter refusing Osborne's help, The Bugle, meeting MJ in front of the diner, the blade evasion in the burning building, the parade scene where MJ almost falls, the thanksgiving dinner...just to name a few.

What this movie lacked was some real emotion. It felt empty and the characters were a bit hollow. I've decided not to pass judgement on this movie until we see the next one because it may have been too early and the first spiderman movie was honestly quite good.

I didn't really see AG pine for Gwen, he was kind of cocky about it. And then when Aunt May tells him "if it's one thing you are, it's good." I'm like based on what? He would have done what anyone would have done if they got those powers. I didn't see him do anything particularly selfless. The most noble thing he did the whole movie was make that promise to Leary, which he's obviously not going to keep. So I gotta say, either this movie lacks imagination and so will the series, or they were just trying to establish the universe with this first one. I hope its the latter and this becomes a truly thrilling series.

Peter had a Crush on Gwen but he wasn't dwelling on her and pining for here it was more admiration from afar, if anything she was the one pining for him which was a nice change of cliche.

There were great moments in ASM, like Peter bringing home the eggs, kids giving condolences over his loss of his Uncle, Gwen on the balcony realising she's in trouble for dating a guy so much like her dad (putting himself at risk) Captain Stacy deciding to trust Peter as Spider-Man, the death of Captain Stacy, the Dad of the kid lining up the cranes as the music swells, the Playing a game on his phone while waiting to reverberations on the web :lol and let's not forget the High School fight :drool

Ang Lee was always a strange choice. But i did like his use of "comic" panels.

It was good editting, but you're right not something that can be used too often.

Hated ang lees hulk. Took half the movie for them to show him.

IH took about as long from what i recall, Both Hulk films had very little Hulk in them :dunno

Well whatever the case may be I didn't like hulk 03 it tried to hard to be something it wasn't and by that I mean emotional. When he started screaming in the chair..... Lol wow

I can't wait to see how the story with Gwen and her fate plays out.

It played out 39 years ago. She dies.

this is funny.

Yes, it is. But it also highlights certain things about this film and the previous three. Namely,

1) There are always going to be comparisons between this film and the aforementioned trilogy, if by noting else than by their chronological closeness.

2) It was made by Sony to retain the rights, so it was more a product of sheer greed than artistic integrity - it's 'amazing' it turned out as well as it actually did then...due to the popularity of the Spider-Man character.

3) There are only a finite number of ways you can tell the same story. This is the very same hero as has already been covered well in film, with the same basic origin, powers, settings, characters, villains etc...so complaining that certain key sequences have been repeated is pointless.

There is no way these things can be denied, and I have no axe to grind here. I am a massive Spidey fan. I have always been so right back from the 70's and my first memory of comics and MARVEL UK's Spider-Man Comics Weekly...complete with a red paper bag with a black grid printed on it and two eye-holes punched in, which was passed off by MARVEL UK as a 'free' Spidey mask and I wore till my face turned red...to the TV series with Mark Hammondand onward until Sam Raimi gave us the movies.

I likes most of all three Raimi films...SMII was excellent...and I enjoyed TASM too. Like with my growing HT Spidey collection, there's plenty of room for both and I hate either version.
