Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Skrull blood is traditionally green. We've seen in that sequence that there is a ton of green screen around, most likely the explanation is that in order for the parts of the armors, uniforms, costumes, etc not to disappear completely when they are adding the effects, I'm sure they are using the blue coloring to separate it and then change the color in post.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I thought Fox still owned the rights to the Skrulls. How'd they get around that for Avengers?

I want to say that the 20th Century Fox deal was specific to Super Skrull as a character (supposedly he was a thought for a possible villain for the sequel) but not the Skrulls out right. Even if they did secure the Skrulls, the Ultimates version of the Chitauri look exactly like the Skrulls where even the jokes have been made that the Skrulls hate that human can't tell their races apart. That in itself is a workaround for Marvel Studios.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

and it could possibly add a bit of humor to the villains to make them more likeable to the general audience that is not familiar with them

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

From SyFy blaster...

When The Avengers assemble next year, they'll be doing it in 3D

That news that cinema purists—and people who don't like headaches—were hoping wouldn't arrive is here: Joss Whedon's climactic, titanic Marvel movie will get the oft-loathed post-production conversion into 3D.
At this point, it's sort of a foregone conclusion that these giant event movies will hit theaters in both 2D and money-sucking 3D versions. There's too much money on the table for it not to happen. (Hence J.J. Abrams' announcement that Star Trek 2 will be converted into 3D.) And sometimes—as with Martin Scorsese's Hugo—the 3D totally works and amplifies the cinematic experience. But all too often, it's just another way for studios to make money ... and ensure that people show up for theatrical releases as opposed to waiting to watch it (or worse, pirate it) at home.
But it takes time and it takes care and it takes a filmmaker who can supervise that process without getting distracted by any of the many things that crop up when a film is rushing to make its preordained release date. When those things don't happen, you get Clash of the Titans.
Let's just hope Whedon and The Avengers get the time they need to keep the 3D conversion from being an exercise in dimensional hackery.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

screw 3D...i've never seen a film yet where I though the 3D was any better than watching it regularly...

Yeah, its kinda cool but I feel its unnecessary and often detracts from the story and action of the film...

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

The marketing for this film has been pretty crass and amateurish, so far. They need to step it up.

As for some peoples' fears that the movie's scope doesn't look big or "epic" enough... I'm gonna have to say I'm with you until we see differently. Whedon has never done anything even remotely on the scale this should be. Here's to hoping he pulls it off.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

its been so blah so far because half of the movie is cgi which isnt finished...i think its fair to say that come the Superbowl we'll get some crazy trailers

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Lol I wouldnt worry about that. The Iron Man movies, mainly the first one was amazing and most of anything that mattered was CGI...

and look at movies like Transformers...all CGI...the story on the other hand lol
