Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I thought the post-3D on Cap was awesome. For anyone who doesn't know Johnston actually planned for it to be a post-3D movie from the beginning. He just wanted to be free to use the cameras he was already familiar with.

It had a great combination of depth (exploding factory behind Cap and the Skull) and "coming out of the screen" (Cap on the bike as the building exploded behind him and of course the flying shield) moments.

I did hear other people complain that their theater didn't brighten the bulbs enough to compensate the dimming effect (which is too bad) but with the right theater management it was pretty awesome.

30% of AVATAR was post-converted 3D.

I thought the 3D in Cap and Thor came out pretty well. I preferred the 2D versions overall though.

Its cool in the theaters where I don't want it is at home when I'm trying to just watch TV.

:lecture:lecture:lecture :exactly: I will be so glad when this gimmick goes the way of the dodo again. :monkey1

no doubt< got a relate in the city that has to see everything in 3D. Now when we go there I just say I'm not in the mood for a movie, just so I don't have to watch another 3D film. Not only that but it costs about 3 times as much to watch a movie in the city as compared to my local older theater.

:exactly: so sick of the 3D tv ads.:monkey4
