Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Yeah, I have to admit its been great having them get into that. Heck, because of you I have one of my favorite comic-con memories.

You guys will have a blast I know that.

Here is a picture from my iPad of the midnight IMAX poster dad and I each got one.

Looks strangely familiar.
:lol

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Excellent, Josh.
:clap :clap :clap

Thank ya :duff

Nice! Glad you got the poster. Looks great.

Yeah, I was hoping they would have them. Somtimes AMC doesn't always have the stuff they say they will have for these events. Its a nice little poster that I'll put away with my art prints.

Looks strangely familiar.
:lol

Looking at your sig I'd say so. :lol

Your Dad saw the light.:rock

That he did.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

This is the second best movie i have ever watched right behind saving private ryan, no exaggeration.

Do have some question regarding the end credit scene for those of you who saw it. See spoiler

Think i need to rewatch the end credit scene again. Is that DR Doom who was sitting? Also who is the red faced guy that grinned. I think he *might* be thanos? but i dont see how marvel could bring him into the movie, there is NO way they can tell his story, he's like a universe villain that destroys planets and make the current story arc look like a speck of dust to his.

Anyway looking for some explanation what happened in the end credit scene, people were cheering/screaming so loud at that point, got distracted.

There's also a lady behind me that asked her boyfriend "is that hellboy?" LOL

Thanos grinned.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

As BuffyGirl replied, it was Thanos.

You know, it does seem seem like it would REALLY be hard to incorporate Thanos into the current Marvel Studios mythos...but I also wondered how the story of a demi-god would translate / tie in, Thor was fantastic. I have faith in Marvel Studios ability to do this.

Five to ten years ago, when comic book movies were no where as huge as they are now, I would have scoffed. But I think the level of fandom has increased every year and this can be done.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I keep checking back here to read reactions, stoked everyone is loving this epic flick:yess:

This finally arrived today, had hoped to wear it to the movie but bloody post is so slow:mad:

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Yeah, they will figure out how to make Thanos work as a bad guy I would guess in Thor 2 as I would expect he will go after the infinity guantlet from Odin's treasure room.

Doom isn't in this at all. I'm sure his rights are owned by Fox or whoever owns the FF4 rights. It was just another of the Chitari.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Yup, unfortunately, given the way the movie rights were drawn up, we will never see Spider-Man, the X-Man, the Fabtastic Four, and Doctor Doom in Marvel Studios' Marvel universe.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

The movie was fantastic. Joss is a mastermind. All the characters were very well done. Maybe a little too many joke moments, but these are fun movies; not Dark Knight brooding stuff.

My biggest fear going in was Cap's costume. Everything below the neck looked great, but that cowl/helmet was ridiculous looking. I was at the midnight IMAX showing and there were audible stomach churns and chuckles whenever a close-up on his masked face was on the huge screen :lol

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

And yet, the Human Torch was in The Avengers.

I hope they hire Tobey Maguire to play Nameless Photographer.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Did anyone else notice Lady Death with Thanos in the beginning? Loved that. And I'm not sure, Josh, if Thanos will be the plot of Thor 2. Screamed Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet to me. Do they do another round of single movies/sequels with after-credits teasers of Thanos collecting the Infinity Gems to lead up to the second Avenger's movie? :yess:

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

You know, I'm wondering if Marvel Studios could do that, sort of an "F You" to Fox. The Avengers Human Torch (or Torch) was not the same as the FF's Human Torch.

Unless Johnny Storm joined the Avengers after I stopped reading comics.

They already referenced it in Captain America with Toro. Two completely different characters, it's not an f-you it's simple usage of their character stables. They could hire Tobey to play a photographer, he'd just have to look nothing like his portrayal of Tobey Maguire to avoid Sony suing, they'd probably try anyway though.

They better move is to get someone that sort of resembles Andrew Garfield, since his look is pretty much the standard teen look know and have him take pictures, then just call him "teen with camera", hell put him in a group of a bunch of people taking pictures. No infringement there but the fanboys would freak out.
