I was wondering if your mind went blank after seeing the movie :lol

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

"Hey Phil!"

"Uh...his first name is Agent."

But the best line...

"So that's what it does..." :( Dude was the ____ing man.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Avengers is a monster hit. Sony's Spiderman reboot will do decent box office, but not Avenger's money. Spiderman is already shaping up to be a bump in the road between Avengers and Dark Knight.

Sony should have a summit with Disney to work out usage rights and co-produce/release some crossovers. IMHO Sony would make more money if Spidey appeared in half a dozen Marvel films than one or two reboot sequels.

Oh, and WB - Where's the Superman Man of Steel teaser trailer??? It should have been attached to Avengers or TDKR. Still no word. That's not very promising.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Did anyone else notice Lady Death with Thanos in the beginning? Loved that. And I'm not sure, Josh, if Thanos will be the plot of Thor 2. Screamed Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet to me. Do they do another round of single movies/sequels with after-credits teasers of Thanos collecting the Infinity Gems to lead up to the second Avenger's movie? :yess:

He might not be but it would be odd to show him now and then do nothing with him until probably 2015.

My brains almost exploded everywhere from overload.

I wont be seeing Spidey or TDKR in theaters. I prob wont see TDKR at all since I didn't like TDK one bit. Ah well. Every film isn't for every one.

I wonder what number Avengers has hit worldwide thus far.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I hope this movie gives Whedon the clout to bring back Firefly in some way.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

He could exec-produce a new Firefly. He's capable of having more than one iron in the fire. Look at JJ Abrams.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I know... me too.

And $75-$100 for a set on eBay already. F that.

Did you guys ask the theater about looking in their 3D glasses recycle bin? They might let you have those if anyone puts them in there. Some just might.

I'll be going on Sunday, if I get any, I'll let you know.

Using advance ticket sales to estimate, they are guessing well over 400 miilion worldwide by the end of this weekend.

It is at 281.1 million overseas and the domestic estimate for this weekend is 150 million+. Then add in the overseas take for the weekend.

It would have to do nearly 3 billion to beat Avatar. I wonder if it can keep up the pace to do it. It is getting even better word-of-mouth than Avatar did. I am very curious to see what week 2 brings.

This! And more props to whedon, he did try really hard & wrapped up firefly somewhat with the serenity movie, even though most of it is out of his control.

Whedon is my most respected director nowdays ovetaking spielberg not just because he directs really well & always wrap up, but also because he takes the time to REALLY understand the source material the movie is based on. All the nitty gritty history & fan favorites over the years he understands them & know how to use it correctly.

I cringe at the thought if the avengers was a michael bay movie, sure it will have the same epic action battles, but it will be a soulless nonstop churn to the end, without any charm or little details for the fans. Thank god they picked whedon.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

He won't, since I think now he would have more important projects, plus most of the cast has projects that are taking up most of their time.

Most of the cast even Fillion has said if Firefly were given the opportunity to come back they'd do it.

it will EASILY overtake avatar, avatar is a no name brand that took off simply because it's a combination of good story telling, cutting edge 3d, & actions.

avenger has all that, plus 40+ years of history & fans behind it.

although the spiderman reboot looks good as a standalone movie, those guys are just plain stupid to reboot spiderman AGAIN, i mean seriously how many more times can they retell the same story..i already know exactly what happened - guy get zapped by spider, becomes spiderman, fight a boss. Why tell the same story AGAIN? so soon?

At least make it something different, instead of ANOTHER origin story repeat. There are so many stories in the spiderman universe that can be made into the movie...

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I'd rather have a Serenity 2 then a series.

I'll take a film, series, whatever. They can call it Firefly, Serenity, Browncoats. If they make it I'll watch.

Netflix, Amazon and the other streaming content providers are starting to make their own series. Whedon sidestepped the usual channels when he made Dr. Horrible. There are many ways to get a new project made.

And BTW - new Dr. Horrible would be great too. (Perhaps a Marvel film cameo)

although the spiderman reboot looks good as a standalone movie, those guys are just plain stupid to reboot spiderman AGAIN...

Sony just lost 6.5 billion dollars.

They should let Marvel use the character again for a piece of the profits.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

It made 18.7 in midnight showings which is the best for a super hero and 8 overall all-time.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Fillion is so big now. With Castle.

So, throw in

NATHAN FILLION. IN A FILM FROM THE DIRECTOR OF THE AVENGERS.
