But someone impotent needed to die (should've been Pepper :horror)
:lol

I wonder if they knew he would be a goner when they were writing IM1?
Nah. They probably weren't even planning on him being a recurring character (at least at this level) at that point. Pretty sure it was Whedon's idea to kill him off for the team to gel together, and it works brilliantly.

Bringing Coulson back as a cyborg sounds like one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. It would totally rob this movie of all the power and poignancy of his death.

Besides, with all the male leads and knowing how Whedon loves to both kill people and write female characters, I was already half expecting him to kill off somebody and give that screen time to a woman in future movies--so here comes Maria Hill taking the place of Coulson. He was the only male character Whedon could get away with sacrificing.

Again, different. :lol But whatever makes people happy.

For me ateast it didn't feel like BW got too much time. Joss used her well I thought.

Yeah, she was well utilized. Like I said, it didn't feel like she got that much of a percentage of the time. But looking at the numbers it is kinda nuts that she got that much more time than Thor or Banner/Hulk. But whatever, it works.

And I agree that the Hawkeye time seems a bit low. Are they discounting his scenes under Loki's control?

I think Thor 2 is going to be very interesting. How will they handle Loki and his dealings with you know who. Will you know who play a significant part in Thor 2 leading to the main event of Avengers 2 or will that be left for Avengers 3.

Will Antman get off the ground and introduce the character of Ultron to the Avengers for part 2.

Unless IM3 is pre-Avengers for some reason.

Possible. Iron Man 2 predates The Incredible Hulk and Thor, so Tony's "last" adventure could easily predate what occurs with The Avengers.

From the beginning of The Avengers we know they built a machine to harness the Tesseract, a machine that Dr. Selvig worked on. That machine wasn't present at the end of Thor when Loki was channeling through him.

The basic timeline of events is that after Loki learns of the Tesseract, he goes to meet with the Chitauri and in a round about way Thanos (hey it says Spoilers allowed) although Loki never really interacts with Thanos and offers up the Cosmic Cube in exchange for the Earth. It seems like The Chitauri get involved because Thanos insures them that Earth is weak and easily overtaken and in the end with the Chitauri leader's comments it seems like the idea of flirting with Death by going there will spawn Thanos' future visits.

Back to the topic at hand there is down time between the end of Thor and the end of Captain America or even the beginning of The Avengers. Stark had enough time to build a whole tower, that'd be plenty of time to go on an adventure before Assembling time.

Well I think most of his "under control" scenes were very short. Especially when you consider how long the helicarrier attack scene was, and how little he was actually shown during it.
