The big disapointment in the Tak for me are both Bale head related. It looks like naked plastic with eyes, lips and hair painted -- big turn off. But most of all -- the head doesn't look like it can be posed with the cape on. I don't want the harness Bruce Wayne, I would want Batman with his head exposed.

Yeah, looks like the head definitely moves up and down but with restricted articulation, I know it articulates left and right so that's all cool with me.
Yeah, this is pretty much how it was in the movie anyway. If he had to look up or left or right, he had to move his body and not just his head.

That's what I've been thinking too. It doesn't bother me that he can't look up since he doesn't really in the movie. I think whenever he does he actually stains his back backwards and barely tilts his neck.

Tak's great, but too skinny, I'd rather go with the beefier version since it's more (I think) movie accurate. The Tak version looks like a comic book version with that skinny waist. Just my .02. I think no matter which version you go with tho you'll be happy.

:lol Excellent point!

I can see why people like the Takara bat's better (hell, I'M starting to like it
better!), but is it really worth DOUBLE the HT's cost? THAT'S the part that's
bugging me! I'm going to get 1 of them, just not sure now which 1...

*sigh*

!ss!

You don't seem to have a dilemma to me Super Serg. Get the Hot Toys one. You know you'll be happy, and with the Con coming, there'll be ample opportunity to spend money. There's sure to be specials, and prizes to be had.

I can't afford either. I have the DC one, which will do me, and fits in with my collection because I have other 13inch DC figs. You may be more of a Batman collector, and want several versions. Whatever your collecting style or reasons and circumstances, there's something for everyone, and wants aplenty.

I think both versions appear to be very well done. And I don't find a huge difference anywhere between them. It's all detail issues. Some prefer one body type over the other, specific details on the belt or boots, etc.. But overall both look great in the photo's. I think you get a bit more in the Takara box than the HT but your paying more as well. I think they are comparable values. I doubt that many are going to have buyers remorse either way they go. I don't think production figures really get much better than this.

The one I couldn't pull the trigger on was the Medicom. It had the highest retail and I already knew the Takara was coming when I saw it available. I just thought I'd like the Takara better, and I think I was right. It's just too short. I can't understand the choices Medicom makes on which figure gets which base body size. If they had just used the almost twelve inch body they used for Vader and comic version Spiderman I would probably have bought it. But it's just too short for display with other 1/6th figures. I think it's a very nice figure but both the Takara and Hot Toys versions look superior in almost everyway. I'm not sorry I didn't get this figure.

Medicom is consistant on their bodies. ALL the movie based figures get the smaller scale ones. Rocketeer, Batman, Star Wars - all have the smaller bodies. Vader is taller so he uses the one that they use for the comic book based figures.

BUT I JUST GOT THE HT BATS, SUPES and Takara Bats and Cats in!!

The head sculpt on the Takara Batman is so very, very superior to the HT one that it isn't funny. It makes HT's look like DC's. Even the Medicom one is better than HTs. Unfortunately that's the only thing better on Takara's. Sure there's more in there, but looking just at the Batman set-up- the suit is all rubber. Not rubber armor over a rubberized suit like the other three. The body is indeed too slim and the belt sits lower on his hips and doesn't look right. The cape is a single, thin layer and much shorter. It hangs better, but doesn't look right. He can point his toes due to the boots being 2 parts, but it looks like he's wearing shoes rather than they're part of the boot. The detail isn't as crisp on the suit and belt either. I'm unsure which I'll display at this point.

Thanks Dave on your initial take, guess you are the very first one here to have these in hand. Since I'm not getting the Tak I have nothing to compare my HT BB to and that may be a good thing for me. :monkey1

Me too. And when I saw this (thanks anti-hero) I was very happy, because these are the two I've ordered, and this is how I want to display them:

I'm thinking I'll find the cheapest Mattel with a decent helmet and create a helmet he can hold without tampering with my Takara cowled head...:D

I am still glad I ordered my HT Batman, even after seeing all the pics. I was tempted to order the Takara to pose with the Bale head and harness getup, it does look cool. Too much money though. So I ordered the Takara Catwoman instead. :D :lol

Dave what does the rubber material feel like on the Takara version compared to the HT version? Is the HT rubber suit thicker and less pliable, is the Takara version more elastic and thin? Do you think either will tear very easily over time from posing?

NICE! Good choice. The idea of making a helmet to add... brilliant.

This photo does give me a tinge of buyer's remorse. Just a tinge, but... a very tangible one.

That photo gives me a great deal of non-buyer's remorse.

That is with out a doubt the best Adam West Batman custom I have seen. Excellent work.
