It is a very close call between the two. I tried analyzing each part as you did, and I kept stalemating. Just as many strengths as weaknesses. Neither really had the edge that way. I guess it's the accessories and the alternate head that are drawing me toward Takara. I'd rather spend a little more and get more options. Plus, I have a feeling HT will sell out long before Takara.

I was on the fence a long time. In the end I decided that there were two different philosphies driving these two projects: likeness vs. articulation.

I fully expect Hot Toys to be less malable and less posable. The main difference seems to be the suit. To my eye it looks both more film accurate and more constricting. Hot Toy's reputation is in their likenesses, while Takara seems to pride themselves on the poses that their Batman will be able to hold.

And the Bruce Wayne head ... would have tipped me over to Takara except it looks like it's naked plastic with only hair and eyes painted. If it turns out to be beautifully fully painted, then I'll suffer more than a tinge of buyer's remorse on that point.

In the end, I'd love to get both and bash them together to make one, ultimate Batman. But g.d., the prices on these guys makes that idea wilt.

I ordered the Hot Toys just a day before learning of the existence of the Takara. After going through all the posts, with all the great shots (thanks guys) I am now feeling a great sense of relief.

One: Hot Toys is a crisper finish, with sharper detail and better overall vinyl look.

Two: Articulation looks to be about the same. I do not like the neck on Takara anyway. I know why it's there, but I don't like it visually.

Three: I wanted the Best Batman for my money. I think I got it.

However...

Four: If I want a Bruce Wayne, then the first night out version is the only justification for the Takara. It can be repainted. The head looks good to me. Not finished, but good sculptwise. Just costly.

That's my 0.02

Basically, I am glad I got the one I got. Thanks. A load has been lifted. :D

Yea, the head and harness are nice, but I would have never set him up like that, they would have sat in the parts bin.

Sure don't. I thnk PJam said they are being shipped over now, so I would think end of July early aug.

That's exactly how I feel.... I'm very happy with my decision, as I like the Hot Toys look a lot better. Takara is still nice, but I'm glad I chose HT. Besides, as EVILFACE said, I doubt I would even display him with the harness and other head.... Just wouldn't see myself doing that.

Well with both you can display Takara as Bruce with Harness and HT as Batman.

Good point Dave!! Wish I had that kind of money though... :lol

Kinda tapped out with the Con exclusives and Superman/Batman...

HT shipping this week, TS will receive by 15th and ship to us within 2 days, figure last week of July for both BB and SR.

After seeing tons of pictures of both, Takara beats Hot Toys hands down. There are just a lot of Hot Toys fans here so the overall opinion on this board is biased.

Both figures look great, but I wouldn't say either one beats the other hands down. And Superman and Batman will be my first HT figures, so I guess my opinion isn't biased.

I have No HT figures except for a Keanu Reeves Speed (LAPD SWAT) although I am a HT fan and have a number of figs on P.O.

So I guess that makes two of us who aren't biased unless you're basing everything on Keanu. :lol

Well, I think I'm going with the HT version. I received a payment request from HLJ for the Takara version which I'll cancel.
My main reasons are HT looks crisper in detail as has been mentioned, HT will be slightly cheaper then Takara; mine's $169.00 shipped from Japan, HT will be at least $30 cheaper, which I can apply to my future Sideshow orders, HT's cast suit looks like it'll last longer then the thinner cast suit from Takara, and HT has a better looking grapple gun then Takara, theirs looks too small.

Takara bests HT version in Cape, number of accessories, extra head, and head likeness. Which to me doesn't warrant the extra $30 at this time.

And the Bruce Wayne head ... would have tipped me over to Takara except it looks like it's naked plastic with only hair and eyes painted. If it turns out to be beautifully fully painted, then I'll suffer more than a tinge of buyer's remorse on that point.

Yep, Takara is mostly cast in color plastic. On the one hand it does hide the joints a little by allowing light to defuse the joint line, on the other it makes the whole head look kind of cheap which for $100+ figures is unacceptable to me. Also another point against Takara is that they don't put enough detail into their weapons.

But if you're even somewhat interested in getting the Takara Catwoman figure, buy one now. Takara can't be beat when it comes to female figures and I doubt that one will be available in 3 months at retail price.
