Only if you turn on the clone frame insertion algorithm ie; dejudder ie; smooth motion ie; whatever they call it there’s a ton of names for it now lol

If you leave it turned off you will still get film looking like film.

Yeah, I don't like true motion, or whatever they call it, I just keep mine set at 60.

The video, hyper realistic look is just not pleasing to my eye.

Well technically the “film” look is really 24 not 60 but I get what you’re saying.

60 or 120 fps is what gets you that hyper realistic look.

Hell at 120 you might as well just go watch a live broadway show at that point if you want the image to be that freaking real on your tv lol

Lol, wasn't talking fps, meant hz. (or is it mhz?)

I prefer 24 fps, even when I shoot, unless I know I will need to do a lot of slow motion.

Unless i'm totally misunderstanding hz.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot my TV has some setting that makes movies look like soap opera video. :lol

I watched part of JAWS with that on and it was totally freaky. Water looked like it was going to slosh into my living room.

I have to see what it is on my Samsung that is making it feel like this for me.

Yes both terms live together for mutual advantage. Without their connection proper cadence could not exist and we would have no knowledge of proper frame insertion. They continually provide data to you, telling you the will of the frame algorithms. When you learn to quiet your mind, you will see the cadence being properly displayed to you.

I just picked up a 65" TCL. What hidden tricks regarding optimizing the image via the settings should I know about?

Nothing anyone can truly properly help you over the internet with.

Just remember that without a trained person using their professional hardware/software tools you will never acheive the fully accurate measurements your tv is capable of handling.

In other words you will have only your eyes to inform you of what you find pleasing to your feelings.

Just keep anything that has to do with noise reduction, sharpening or that makes the image “better” turned off lol (I know that must sound crazy but trust me).

For example on your tv go to the LED Motion Clarity setting and turn it on and watch as your image is destroyed! See how dark it gets and that gives nothing back in return just leave it off and ignore it.

Also remember that you bought a tv that needs a dark room to really show its quality because in a bright room it just doesn’t have the nits or contrast to compete with the QLED or OLED of the world.

Nonetheless you can achieve some decent results with this cheap ass tv lol

Thanks, jye. I like the way it looks, I just wanted to check if I'm missing something that could optimize it.

What picture quality do you have yours set at ... i.e. brighter, bright, normal, movie, etc.?

For 4K DV HDR viewing I use TV Brightness Dark/Picture Mode Normal/Local Contrast High/Backlight 100/Brightness 49/Contrast 100/Sharpness 0/Color 58/Tint 0/Color Temp Warm.

Dynamic Contrast and Natural Cinema are set to OFF.

Gamma 2.2 in the TCL Roku App (very important).

Try Action Smoothing Off then High tell me which you prefer.

You end up with this...well hopefully.

Now that’s JUST for my “Streaming” DV settings I have different settings for HDR10 and 1080pHD!

:chase

I would be at your house for 2 days if I went thru all of my settings!

Man Dell has a 4K LG 86” for $2,250!

I know absolutely nothing about the tv other than it probably being an edge lit but for that price who cares lol

I mean seriously if size is what you seek then that is definitely the tv for you.

86”!!!
