I have had enough Beastmaster in my life during those now infamous marathons lol

Look Excalibur is obviously better than those B sword and sorcery movies no doubt BUT please don’t compare it to LOTR....ever ok lol

Im not comparing just trying to understand. I like return of the king better as well but many people find it boring cause its long and doesn't have as much action as the other installments in terms of the percentage of its total runtime. I was just trying to understand why you found excalibur boring not the other cause it couldnt have been because of action lol. The lord of the rings story is probably just more interesting and compelling for you then king Arthur so you just dont notice it in return of the king. Its the same for me i dont find it boring at all cause i like the lore. I didnt like the hobbit movies nearly as much though- some of that **** i did find boring. It should have only been 1 3 hour epic or 2 movies at most (For the ADD crowd) there was not enough in that one book to make 3 movies

How can you call Excalibur boring but not the 3 hour cut of return of the king. For the record i dont think either are boring but return of the king felt like it had 3 endings and had way more downtime then excalibur.
Just for the record, Return of the King is over 4 hours long. Which means I can no longer, ever watch it in one sitting. Little kids just could never tolerate something like that, and I can't remember the last time i had 4 hours of time to myself.

I haven?t watched Dragonslayer in a very long time so I can?t speak for that one.

I love Dragonslayer. I?m probably in a minority on this. Some of it is very dull, but for a Disney movie, it is pretty un-Disney and surprisingly adult, the effects are amazing for their vintage and the music is exceptional.

They had one of the best Dragons ever created for a movie.

Dragonslayer is really good too i forgot about that one!! To bad its owned by disney, it will never see the light of day on 4k. Locked in that vault forever they would never allow a boutique company like arrow, scream or vinegar syndrome to make it

My Best Buy 300 4k sb arrived with loose discs inside.

BB is sold out.

I took it to BB.

They said if I open it to check the discs even in front of them and its damaged then i’m stuck with it.

My only option was to return it which I did I wasn’t going to take that chance.

Grrrr

Wow that's really terrible customer service. You should have been allowed a return anyway with a receipt if you opened it and the discs were damaged.

Yeah that was pretty lame.

There was a slight possibility that the discs were fine but they were bouncing around in there for god knows how long so more than likely they were scratched.

Knowing that the item was long sold out I was willing to open it in store and take it back with me if everything was ok.

But they said open it and I own it even if damaged and I wasn’t willing to take that chance.

Thats messed up. Mine arrived a day before official store release, so i had the option to buy it again for in store pick up. Luckily i didnt need to do that this time as my copy arrived fine. Its such a crap shoot these days for popular steels that i know are going to sell out and that arrive on release day and not before. I nearly got ****ed with goonies that way first copy arrived late and damaged then stores sold out for ispu, i waited a bit for it to become available for shipping again bought a 2nd copy and hoped to hell it arrived mint- luckily it did. I usually buy two copies 1 early po shipped to lockdown a copy just in case no store pickup option pops (the option pops on the website usually at around 10pm monday night), then order a second copy for ispu just in case the shipped one arrives damaged. If the shipped one arrives early on tuesday and its fine i just cancel my in store pick up. If it doesnt i have to go to the store and pick up the copy early otherwise you get the crap leftover (loose disk/spine slash/bent ispu copies). Ive been ****ed like you before, so i started doing this on certain releases. Its a pain in the *** cause i always have to return one but its the only way to guarantee i get a good copy and am not left holding my **** upon sell out. Hopefully it comes back in stock for shipping, id be surprised if it didn't, you just have to hope your next order arrives in good condition.

So I waited too long to pull the trigger on the Back to the Future 4K steel book at Best Buy bc it?s sold out online. That said, if I show up to a physical store location on 10/20, do you think they?ll have any on shelves?

No your best bet is to be online monday the 19th at 10pm pst when best buy opens it up for in store pick up. Odds our all the copies will get reserved before the store even opens. I hope my set arrives a day before release in case its jacked up. I really dont want to drop another 70 bucks at 10pm just to better my chances of getting a damage free set but i may have too

I find the quality of customer service at BB significantly varies by store. I've had experiences like that at one store, only to have incredible customer service at another. Within a few weeks of eachother, one store accidentally sold my reserved item and said "sorry, you're out of luck" and "there's nothing we can do about it." Meanwhile at another store in a better area, I took a movie back that didn't contain the 3D disc (instead it had 2 blu-ray's), and even though i had already redeemed the digital code, they not only refunded my money, but also allowed me to pick any movie in the store I wanted for free

So, find a good store and stick with that one

Best buy can very on how they handle things like that, obviously a manager can always override policy but their policy with open movies and games is very restrictive at times. If a movie or game is currently out of stock and you try to return an opened one they can give you **** cause its their policy not to accept returns with opened movies and games only exchanges. It usually isnt a problem except when it comes to limited steelbook, they should make exceptions on them. I have found that asking for a manger usually resolves those sort of problems and if that doesnt work, i go back a different day (or to different store) new staff new manager who may help you.

Also best buy steelbooks usually get restocked after they go Out of stock the first time (burn through first shipment). You can hold onto the damaged steelbook then return it via online return/exchange process when its back in stock. You can also just buy another copy bring it with you along with proof of purchase to any BB store along with the defective damaged one and i guarantee you they will take back the opened one and give you the money back. Ive done this many times with no issue. If they try to hassle you just return the unopened new one (they now have stock) then immediately ask to exchange it for the opened defective one.

The 2nd batch may be small so you just need to check the site often, in rare cases there is no second shipment as was the case with the recent evil dead 1&2 4k steelbook set (Vanished from the site after sell out) or the new halloween 4k steelbook (you can buy this one at zaavi now if you missed out on it but you pay alot more). I have a feeling 300 will get restocked again soon online but you have to keep checking the site

The one ring to rule them all and in the darkness bind them is finally up for po in glorious 4k steelbook form @bb now

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/the-lo...lu-ray-only--best-buy/6420422.p?skuId=6420422

The hobbit 4k set is up as well

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/the-ho...ef=198&loc=Blu-ray.com&acampID=0&mpid=1808408

There is another lotr 4k steelbook set sku that pops up for $140 (more expensive then the one above) but there is no image or description and its only available for shipping atm (cringe). I wouldnt want a set like this shipped not with a steelbook outer shell it will get destroyed by best buys terrible packaging

Btw the sets i linked above include both theatrical and extended cuts

2020 is by far the worst year ever in many ways but damn we got so many good 4k catalogs this year in steelbook form as well- they just been cranking them out non stop- its the only good thing to happen during this **** year. December (the first of the month esp) is going to be an expensive month for movies. Both Total recall and blade 4k steelbooks drop the same day as these sets.

Take note Hobbitons!

“In addition, it was also announced that a 4K UHD Middle-earth Ultimate Collectors’ Edition featuring the theatrical and extended versions of all six films, along with new bonus content, previously released Blu-ray discs of The Hobbit Trilogy, and remastered Blu-ray discs of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy will be released in the summer of 2021.
