Here's hoping with the small ES, it will help with the paint apps and quality control..here's hoping anyway :lol

I'm loving the Dinosauria Line
However the EX pieces don't do much for me I'm happy with the Regs :D

It seems that this line will hinge for alot of people on the quality of the paint job so hopefully Sideshow will keep a close eye on it and make sure the paint job is superb.

I imagine this is in scale with the dio correct? If not, that is a serious disapointment. There aren't any side by side pics yet are there? I'd love to see them together. Maybe the Carataurus at the bottom of the dio's cliff charging at the Tri and Rex?

The paint apps are absolutely the most important part of this line. The sculpts are really attractive, but honestly, we don't have much to compare them to. It's not like anyone will drop the line because the Carnotaurus should have four bumps above the eye instead of two. There are no photos to compare the sculpts to.

With that said, I am saving every prototype photo that Sideshow takes of these pieces for later comparison. If the dio comes in, and the paint looks as amateur as the paint on the JP dio, I am returning it and canceling all the other Dinosauria pieces I have ordered. It would break my heart, but I refuse to pay another $200 or more to have these pieces professionally repainted, even if the sculpt is the best on the planet.

If you look at the teeth on the T.rex vs. Triceratops dio, you will see a really awesome red glazing effect for the blood on the T.rex's teeth. Compare that to pics of the Jurassic Park dio paintjob on the teeth. Holy crappola! I will drop this line in a heartbeat if we get more of that.

Holly??...is that last picture real???....did SS honestly think a paint job like that is worth $200+. T-rex looks like he's wearing lipstick and also appears to be suffering from a very bad case of mites.
Im with you on this man, I have a Carnotaurus on pre-order also...but if I get a piece of crap like that T-rex im putting an X on the whole dam line.

Chris

I can't believe the paint apps on the JP Dio came out that badly. Such a shame, but hopefully SS learned their lesson and will monitor the factories to make sure the paint apps are spot on for this line.

I would've returned that slop paint job in a heartbeat. Now I know what people mean by the JP dio being horrible. All that was done was some bright red paint spattered on the mouth and several black dots quickly tapped across the face. Sorry you had to add this QC nightmare to your collection.

I understand what you're saying completely. I, for one, can't afford to keep buying these pieces, only to keep turning them around and paying 2/3 of the retail on top of the retail to have the paint job that we should have had in the first place. I don't want my heart to sink again as it did when I saw the first in-hand pics of the JP piece... in hindsight I suppose it was good because those pics mitigated most horrific shock when opening my own piece. This line will drop like a stone if the paint apps fail. God I hope this lives up to the expectations of what I'm seeing in the preview shots. The potential to have high end paleo collectibles in line with the latest knowledge regarding appearance and theories pertaining to behavior is something so many are now enthusiastic to have. They've piqued the interest, now they have to deliver.

Yea I know how you feel Scar
Maybe you could wait until the First of the Dinosauria Pieces is released and see images from other board members then if the PaintJob is up to standard you could purchase through somewhere else? :monkey3

Oh and this Carnotaurus Maquette looks great but the Size of the Piece though good for those small spaces just looks too small

But to make it in scale with the dios, it would have to be smaller. Otherwise, we'd end up with ginormous dios! Large pieces are nice to look at, but a pain to find a spot for. I had a heck of a time finding a spot for Jabba's throne!

Bigger is always better in my books friend.
