Confusing people is what I do best! I have no direction. I just post what comes out of my head. It doesn't have to relate or make sense. It's so much easier I find to attack things that way. Make sense?

I think so but I need a drink. :rotfl

It is too bad that some people will accuse others of exaggerating Ledger's accomplishments because of his death.

But this performance was far, far more than one dimensional or just a homicidal maniac. It certainly approaches the multi-dimensionality and charisma of Hopkins' Hannibal Lecter. They both created villains that were not only consumately evil, but throughly engaging. I do agree that Eckhart did a fantastic job, and I also think Oldman deserves high praise for taking a character that is almost always 2nd fiddle and making us really, really care about him.

Don't confuse what I said Dave. I do think Mr. Ledger was an amazing actor. He did a very good job portraying a mad man who doesn't care much about anything, or for that matter, anyone. All he cares about is seeing the destructive nature of all things living and not. A good little Joker incarnate. That maybe good enough for the character. However, it's just not enough for this movie goer. I went in with tremendously high expectations, brought on by all that hype. I just don't feel that Heath's acting was immaculate, nor did I believe he conveyed a wide range of emotion. In my opinion, that is what makes for an Oscar worthy performance. I feel that I have to go there because that is where the critics, and the marketing machine went to. At the very least, there were murmurs.

Again, I am not taking away from the late Heath Ledger's credibility as an actor. I have always been a fan, and I strongly believe that the film industry lost a great individual that brought a lot to the screen. I still can't help but wonder if he was alive today, if those people would have shared the exact sentiments given the reality of the situation we have to live with unfortunately.

What did it in for me, as mentioned before, Heath's supposed Oscar worthy performance, and the movie itself was comparable to some of the great detective movies of all-time. Even going as far to suggest it maybe the greatest movie in a long while. I didn't share those sentiments, but that shouldn't take away from those who do believe those bold statements to be accurate. After all, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Adding to what I said: Had a discussion earlier today with a fellow Freak (the_ill_Jedi), we both realize just how great of a superhero movie that the Dark Knight is. We're simply victims of the hype machine. We wanted so badly for this to be the best darn movie out there, but it failed to impress us at that proclaimed level. If I ignored all that crap, I probably would have left the theatre much more impressed than I was. Having said that (repetitive much), it's a 4 star movie. 7.5 out of 10. I was just expecting a 9 or a 10.

So is somebody going to tackle some parts of this review: https://movies.yahoo.com/mvc/dfrv?mid=1809271891&uid=jYQyVyPpksyTepeRzWXpohQETg--&s=&i=46&spl=

Reading that review makes me think it is a garbage script. To bad if true.

That review loses credibility in the giant questions paragraph. Half the questions he asks shows a poor understanding of the story and in other cases, what the characters stand for. Why doesn't Batman run down the Joker with the Batpod? ^^^^ing duh dude, he refuses to break his rule that he will not directly kill anyone, as he told Ra's in Begins. How'd Joker stick a cell phone in a guy in his jail cell? He didn't dumbass, he did it before and just knew the guy would be arrested, if this reviewer watched TDK, he'd have noticed the guy complaining of stomach issues before he was thrown in his cell. Why was Harvey after Gordon? Good grief, I'm not even going to rip on this reviewer anymore, but to even ask those 3 things alone discredits the review, it makes it sound like the guy paid no attention to the film and character motivations, which weren't hidden or anything, they were clear as day.

Yeah, that reviewer is pretty damn vapid.

He also asked if the ferries got blown up. :google

And "what happened to the Joker?" Uh, dummy... he got arrested again. :duh

Did this guy even watch the movie, or did he just write it based on hearing about it?

I wonder if he asked "What happened to Anakin?" at the end of ROTS. :lol

Well, I think the ferries comment is somewhat valid, you're basically left to assume Batman or GPD disabled things so Joker couldn't set them off on his own even if the boats didn't, but it would have made a bit more sense if they showed how it was done. Ultimately though, Joker is defeated and that's what you need to see to enjoy the movie, and a great last dialogue between Joker and Batman. Going to see this for the second time in a few hours, can't wait :rock

My only dissappointment with the movie overall was less Joker than I would like, but as far as that affecting the quality of the movie, I don't feel it does, it just affects my personal preference which doesn't devalue the film. I also wish a few dialogue points were like the trailer cuts and not the final used, like "kill the Batman", I thought it had more punch in the trailer take.

I agree, I wanted him to just say "Kill the Bat", woulda sounded so much better.

For me, it wasn't so much the words used as the actual voice and tonality, there was just a little something more diabolical I thought in the trailer delivery. At least they used the right cut of "we're tonight's entertainment".

I thought Joker in the cell clapping seemed dumb in the trailers without a context, but the way it was done in the film was hillarious and very fitting.

Now that I've seen the movie, I think Ledger's Joker mixes the personality traits of Hannibal Lecter and Emperor Palpatine; there's just this incredible master manipulator persona too him and he's very engaging, madly intelligent which is a nice contradiction within him.

I seriously have to read one bad review that is legit. All the reviews so far are written by pretentious douchebags who like movies such as Don't mess with the Zohan better than TDK. The majority of those douchebags are either New Yorkers or Tim Burton butt-lovers.

Exactly, this was the best movie of the summer hands down.

What I liked a lot in TDK, was that a plot hole people commented on from Begins was wrapped up; the Tumbler seen out and about in Gotham with no one from WE picking up on it, and the way they shut the guy up was great with Bruce saving his ass.

I really like that Fox knows Bruce is Batman but that they never play that out in dialogue, the only hardcore evidence of it is when Batman talks to him about the sonar setup at WE, other than that, it's all vague references. Very cool, and Freeman makes Fox such a fun character to watch in his small popup moments.
