Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Dark Knight = most excited I've ever been for a film.
Dark Knight Rises = currently 'meh' and I am a huge Batman fan.
It doesn't look anything special from the trailers; most of the photos so far have been pretty rubbish; I'm not bothered about Catwoman/don't like Anne Hathaway; and Bane really doesn't look anything special at the moment. I hope I eat my words.

How can you call yourself a huge Batman fan?

Me too.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I get not being as excited as the last time...cause frankly this is a different movie. I was never really expecting to have the same exact experience.

batman begins was cool but I didn't know what to expect after that. Then the dark knight had the whole viral marketing thing that totally fit with the joker...and the teasing at two face made me giddy. So now the next movie is on it's way and I still have no idea what to expect.

No virals seemed a little harsh at first, but I'm expecting great things out of this movie. That whole viral marketing was new to me in 2008, other than that trent reznor year zero thing. Now it seems a bit played out. And I think it worked well because of the dilapidated carnival joker aesthetic. And it also helped me to feel super excited for like an entire year before the movie.

I watched batman begins into the dark knight the other night. Then I watched the new trailer and the prologue and I felt super pumped.

I'm sure they have some new stuff coming around the bend soon. Hopefully I'll feel really excited for the rest of the wait.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I guess the feeling was creating as much hype as they did for TDK would be impossible to live upto again and they are probably correct.

But damn, I couldnt be less excited or less confident about this movie right now. It all looks and feels so vanilla and frankly seems pretty boring and drab at this point from what I've seen. Theres no crazy hype over a certain event like there was with TDK either like how exciting it was when they blew up the Candy factory.

It feels like we already know the plot is going to be Batman isn't Batman anymore, and has to make a comeback, but frankly I don't want to watch that story play out in any way. The whole thing seems to be suffering from The Last Crusade ripping off Raiders of the Lost Ark syndrome already.

Batman coming into the realisation he needs to be more then Bruce again. The League back with Marion much like Ras pretending to be someone she isn't. The League wants to destory all of Gotham. He travels out of Gotham to retrain, theres a prison break, a machine that causes chaos, the police don't trust Batman. Pretty sure I saw that movie when it was called Batman Begins. I want to be wrong but a big part of me is feeling like maybe Chris was right and he shouldn't have made another.

I feel you man. The dark knight had me on edge and I was so excited about it in every way. With this movie I see nothing that excites me. it doesnt look like a batman movie to me and Bane just doesnt look like Bane. I hope and pray I am wrong about this tho. I want to be.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I'm super hyped for this movie, honestly, I think the lack of information is really what's driving it for me. The trailers were awesome, the prologue was awesome, but it really is just ominous enough to keep people guessing. I hope they do gear up with some viral marketing, as I'm really not getting as much of an excited vibe from the general public, of course that may be due in part to the fact that the general public is always looking for the "next big thing."

Now that The Hunger Games has come out, they'll look to The Avengers, and after that, it'll be all eyes on TDKR. However, it'd be cool to see like a "Gotham Tonight" hour-long feature on "Batman: Where Has He Gone" or something.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Try Gotham Tonight : Where Have I Gone? Anthony Michael Hall isn't exactly in the cast list.

I remember the speculation he would be the Riddler. Nope he was "Mike Engel" for about 45 seconds. :lol I expect Mathew Modine's role to be similar.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I think they'll be some pretty big surprises in store when the movie hits, many people think they have a handle on the plot and sure I have my own take on it too, but Nolan loves to surprise and I'm sure this will be no different

Can't wait for the next trailer

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

That's true, but was he listed in the cast list for TDK, or was it just known that he'd be in there due to those Gotham Tonight viral vids. Regardless, WB and Team Nolan need to start shoveling coal into the marketing choo-choo, as I want Batman to be on top for once (Not number 2/3 like TDK).:gah:

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Nolan's Batman isn't really Batman so he's fine in not being super excited for the film while still retaining his "I'm a huge Batman fan" member ship card.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

He's probably just a huge TDK fan. :lol

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Most people I know are fed up with this oil leakage thing and are avoiding the rubber suited Batmans like the plague. I bet if her catsuit is going to have some sort of rubber it'll have issues as well. I hope they don't go down that route and come up with an amazing looking Anne Hathaway Catwoman.

that picture is causing a rise ....

Come one man...

Nope, member ship card revoked.

Nolan's Batman is a sort of diluted Batman I think. The real world setting seems to be hindering it now think. It was new and exciting in Begins, didn't matter in TDK cause we all just focused on the Joker. But now - the trailer for Rises just seems...like any other action film. It doesn't shout anything special - Batman is hardly in it and it just seems bland. I really, really hope I am wrong.

as for the plot - someone said it earlier: Bruce isn't Batman anymore, Bane terrorises the city, Tries to take him on but after lack of practice gets beaten up, goes back to LoS to retrain, comes back and defeats Bane - all whilst Catwoman has this air of mystery surrounding her blah blah. From most clips in the trailer you can make a very good guess at starting to construct the plot.

I love how people think they have the whole plot figured out by watching a 2:00 trailer. People thought the same thing when they saw TDK trailer. They were wrong. Unlike alot of directors in Hollywood, there's more to Nolan's films then what you see in the trailer.

I did not say that - I said you can make a good guess at constructing it from watching the trailer/ the trailer gives you a very good idea of what is happening.
