Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Who is Blake ?. I've got no idea.

Surely if he did end up in the suit he'd just have the crap beaten out of him within a few days. :lol

Noone really has much of an idea beyond informed conjecture

I think this all just comes down to Ra's' line in Begins...

'If you make yourself more than just a man, if you devote yourself to an ideal, then you become something else entirely, LEGEND...'

Bruce can't be Batman forever

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

:rotfl I guess people are forgetting Bruce's training and assuming the only prerequistite to being Batman is having a similar mouth and jaw to Bruce Wayne. :dunno

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

well Blake Is a cop,
at least he is not some random guy

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

My hopes, Blake ends up like Leo in the Departed, not Batman Beyond.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

well they did thought about a batman beyond movie before begins, nothing happened but maybe now it can

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Or he somehow sacrifices himself to save Batman, help show that people believe in Batman and are willing to fight alongside him.

I'm much more interested in Mathew Modine, last I heard his role was considerable but he doesnt so much as appear for a second in the new trailer.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Yeah , I don't think I'd like to see it end with Blake taking the cape. Sure , kill off or retire Batman but there's a big difference between batman and a cop who looks to admire him. It reminds me of Syndrome in the Incredibles.

Hopefully Bane takes him out before he can play dress up. :rotfl
I suppose for all we know he could have been trained by Ra's himself though , or as mentioned he might have no intention of becoming batman himself at all, time will tell I suppose. :hi5:

Whenever I hear it suggested all I can think of is Shaia whats his Boof in Indy 5 reaching for that hat. Hell no! Not even as a joke.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Speaking of bats, why does he never again use that sonar thing in his boot from Begins, like when he's in the building in TDK and needs a distraction to deal with Swat and the Doctors etc.

Never used all those bats for back up again either like he did in BB.

Must've been all the droppings.

That's what I was thinking I'd like to see and the way I'd imagine it will end up. Batman getting thrown around the room by Bane, seeing Blake get killed and then going crazy , killing Bane and then finally realizing he can't do it anymore.

Just thought about this line from Ra's...

'The training is nothing, the WILL is everything. The will to act'

So MAYBE, Blake saves Batman or risks his life and saves a lot of people, and at that moment, Bruce realises, he's the right guy if something were to happen to Bruce.

I could see that.

But I think the reason for retirement wouldn't be that he can't do it anymore. I think it'd be that Gotham is saved and has been truly inspired this time to rise above its corruption and self decline.

The last time Gotham was inspired at the end of TDK by Harvey Dent, was based on a big lie.

This time it would be for real

Except the implication is that the training isn't enough by itself, not simply that the will is enough, or else Harvey or hell even Rachel could have been Batman.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

It might end up the whole city in general starts to stand up to crime ( it would be about time :lol ) with Blake giving Batman the will to go on ( sort of like another Harvey figure ) and regardless of whether he lives or dies eventually everyone starts to realize if one man has been saving them from such terrible things all along what's stopping the entire city from standing up.

I think the idea of the city rising up to the challenge is going to be very central to the film. We've already seen the massive set pieces with the Mercs vs the cops, I think that's all part of that

The final shot of Blake above the city in the suit could be a flash-forward :dunno

That'd give him time to actually train

I'm just playing devils advocate here, I don't think it WILL happen, I just think it's one of a few possibilities I can see playing out at this point
