Why remake something that was already awesome in the beginning? Unnecessary movie IMO.

The books are fantastic but are very dark in terms of violence against women (mainly in the first one).

I wonder how a larger audience will accept this film, and only hope that The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo will be a big enough commercial success for teh studio to allow Fincher to film teh otehr two books.

Is it just me or does Rooney Mara look very unattractive as Lisbeth? Watching that preview, she just looks awful.

One thing I like in the new one is the dragon tattoo is much more like the books, rather than the whole back tattoo they did in the originals, not quite sure why they changed that from the book.

I have little interest in this film though, I loved the Swedish version and don't really feel that they needed to be remade. Particularly when they're filming it in Sweden with Swedish accents.

I also think Noomi Rapace played a more realistic Lisbeth. Watching the interview that she did during filming, I agreed with her take that book Lisbeth is unrealistic in that she only eats junk and smokes, yet she's a boxer and extremely fit. She played a real kick ass Lisbeth and did a fantastic job. I think if Rooney Mara gets nominated for awards for this role, I'll feel a little disappointed because Noomi did such a great job before her and made the role.

Exactly. Rooney is much closer than Noomi, but that makes the story even more reliant on her acting skills. It's hard to develop a connection or feeling with Rooney's character - looking at her just creeps me out. She'll have to make us feel for her, and that's something we'll just have to see.

I just have trouble with the lack of eyebrows. Makes me think of Whoopi Goldberg. But IIRC, that's close to the book.

I'm not too bothered with a character looking exactly like how they are written in books to be honest. I usually find the image I have ends up being off to whomever is cast in films adapted from books anyway :)

It is all in the perfomance, that really makes the character for me. Noomi was close enough in appearance for me as Lisbeth, at least they didn't cast a 6' blonde in the role :)

Yes, she is skinnier than Rapace's Lisbeth, though I always thought she was pretty tiny looking whilst watching those movies anyway, she sure is a hell of a lot smaller than I am - I'm also a girl btw :)

I think it must be the eyebrows that make Rooney look very strange - and that really bad haircut in the preview where she's at the cabin with Blomkvist- that awful really short fringe. Was she wearing different wigs in this film because there are a few different hairstyles shown just in the previews.

Just saw this, Fincher did an outstanding job andRooney Mara owned the movie. This is how a book should be adapted.

Just got back. Loved it!! I would have loved it more if I had not seen the original. There were enough changes to keep things interesting. I will not watch the next 2 foreign movies so that I will have the opportunity to enjoy the next 2 Craig movies more.

I hope they do. I told myself I would read the first book before the movie came out..still haven't gotten around to it. :gah:

Just saw the movie... loved it.

Rooney Mara was awesome! Daniel Craig as good as always. :)
