Obviously we all enjoy different things...personally I enjoyed the 2nd and 3rd more than the first especially since it was pretty much all Lisbeth.

:goodpost: I enjoyed The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest more than the first as well.

The second two books don't have any rape or sexual abuse like the first, do they?

I wasn't a big fan of the 2nd or 3rd for that reason. I can definatly see where people would be more facinated with Lisbeth, but personally I always felt that "wildcard" characters like her work better when they are a bit more in the background to the everyman protagonist.
But thats just me.

No. The second book delves into Lisbeth's past, but there is no graphic sexual abuse that Lisbeth endured.

Was the movie the first time you experienced (for lack of a better word) The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo? When I heard that the film was being re-made for American audiences, I was wondering how American audiences would accept the brutality that Lisbeth had to endure.

Saw the film last night and really enjoyed it. While I can't saw I enjoyed it more then the original, they are totally different films, I think it was about on par with it.

.....But what a ****ed up family this film had :lol

The film was excellent. Rooney Mara was incredible in her role, and the cast worked extremely well together. Craig was fantastic, and it was good to see Stellan Skärsgard again. This was my introduction to the Millenium trilogy, and I definitely hope Fincher returns for the sequels. Nevertheless, I will definitely be checking out this series, starting with the Swedish films, and the upcoming Graphic Novel adaptations.

Yes, it was my first experience with the story. I had always planned on reading the books and now I certainly will. :)

I definitely felt uncomfortable during those scenes, but it made [insert character name here]'s revenge that much more powerful.

is the rape scene as bad as I've read it to be?
Didn't think it was THAT graphic..pretty sure I've seen worse.

But don't let the fact that there is a rape scene in the movie prevent you from going to see it..the movie was amazing.

Haven't seen the Swedish version, but I doubt I'll enjoy it more than this one..

Oh, and the intro to the movie is so badass..

It is a bit brutal but i think it's more the acting and the way it's filmed that makes it more real then the usual rape scenes.

Read the books and have seen the swedish films, but this movie was a 10/10 for me. Very entertaining, and true to the book! The 2hr 40min run time flew by.

An old bag sitting in my row left during one of the scenes. She was "shocked".

Wow, that's good to here! I saw the original movie. Haven't read the books yet. I guess I need to do so. Which movie is truer to the book? The American or Swede version?

:lecture I always wonder why older people go see these movies, and suddenly act shocked when a rated R movie has intense graphic scenes.

I felt the American version was truer to the book.. at least the way I saw it in my head when I originally read it. I got the Bluray swede trilogy for Christmas which are the extended versions. They may flush out the story a bit more.
