I love all the LOTR EE & with 14 minutes in AUJ it did not hurt the movie. But for some reason I am not a fan of DOS EE. Things are slowed down, story lines are spliced from Theatrical release (which is strange), did not like the extended beginning flashback and I just hate Beoron design and acting (and we see more of him)

Well done with the comparison of OT/LOTR and PT/Hobbit.

LOTR is a true masterpiece in every sense of the word.

That being said, Hobbit is still sloppy crappy fun though.

I made one of the worst movies ever made, worse than Plan 9 and Battlefield Earth so sue me for enjoying the Hobbit trilogy.

:lol

I have to wonder how people would feel about The Hobbit if LotR didn't exist.
Wouldn't make a difference to me, they're just not great movies. Taking Star Wars as an example, the absence of the OT would make the prequels even worse than they are, not better. The Hobbit trilogy isn't close to prequel bad but they're not masterpieces like LotR and just severely bloated. There wasn't enough material to make three good movies and it shows.

C'mon it might not be LOTR quality, and so few movies are, but it still had some awesome fantasy elements.

Good vs Evil was still presented in an entertaining way.

You want "sucks" watch Talia's death or the fights in TDKR! :lol

Lol. Yeah, they weren't that bad. :lol Glad I saw them so that I got to see a bit more Middle Earth but hard for me to imagine watching them again. I'll YouTube some scenes if it turns out any of them have more Sauron lore. ;)

I know a ton of movies that are 100 times worse than The Hobbit.

AUJ is on TNT at 8. I'll be watching this during commercial breaks. :lol

I personally enjoy both trilogies and thank PJ fOr returning to Middle Earth to give us The Hobbit. Enjoy that it is in my collection for my viewing pleasure. Except for the design of Beoron!!

That could be said of a zillion movies, though. Think of a movie you don't like. Does the fact there are worse movies out there make you enjoy it now?

If I didn't enjoy it, I wouldn't even bother talking about it. If I said a movie sucked, I sure wouldn't waste my time discussing it. :lol
