The lawsuits had nothing to do with this being a trilogy. I can assure you of that. Behind the scenes stuff and all that is different than some of the propaganda being put out there. The trilogy can from exactly what I mentioned. I don't particularly care if people criticize. I have to actually put some stock in their opinions before I'd even care to be honest. Crows is totally incorrect as far as I'm concerned but his two cents is fine being put out there.

My love for LOTR actually makes me take a harder look at these. I don't see these as films that need a pass.

When you watch the extended edition extras, you get the sense that the actors thought they were going to make LOTR 2 and have all the same fun. Then it quickly becomes apparent that the effort and care going into these from Jackson just wasn't there.

None if them thought that and that in no way is what you get in the extras nor is that what any of them truly thought. I know this for a fact. They all very much enjoyed making these films that much I also know. As far as the effort and care. You're must be watching something different. Because it clearly shows your statement is inaccurate no matter how much some of you repeat it hoping to make it true. As far as Armitage you're on a short list that didn't like the job he did. That I can also assure you.

More people liked it than not but they still have to........

I know. Like I said I get that folks don't like these. It's cool but inaccurate statements and hyperbole that crack me up. I've chimed in enough I suppose.

Oh look, LOTR = OT Star Wars, Hobbit = PT Star Wars. So we know what will happen in this thread! Hobbit hate!!!

Jeez... Wonder how some are even happy.

:lol

I guess what i'm trying to say is that I agree with him in that the Hobbit book is known as a different style and length than LOTR yet because of lawsuits going on behind the scenes they came up with this EE trilogy.

I'm sure it wasn't all lawsuit related though, they also wanted to benefit from the LOTR attachment, who can blame them I would've done the same thing!

I'm ok with the criticism against this movie because for me I accept some of them as being valid, but at the end of the day I still enjoyed them.

They were still thrilling and fun and yes my love for LOTR makes it easier giving the Hobbit trilogy a pass.

About how I feel. Love of Middle Earth makes these films something I will return to and find enjoyment in. Far from perfect and very flawed but still middle earth.

Oh god yes, Hobbit films with all their cgi bloat and over extended narrative are a whole lot better than "No, I am so in love with you" or "Are you an angel" or "I hate sand, it gets everywhere" or that painful to watch Dexter or or or or...the PT gifts are never ending, its like herpes!

I like the beginning in the Shire, the contract, Riddles in the Dark, the Bilbo and Smaug scene and, uh, um, that's about it.

I enjoy AUJ for the most part as a whole. By far the best of the Hobbit films IMO.

Yet another reason it's like the PT since I think TPM is by far the best of those films also :) :) ;) ;)

Smaug is all I really like. That dragon with that voice and those lines is pure awesomeness. Can't take my eyes off him when he's on screen.

I like the babbling spiders too -- "what is it? what is it?"

Agreed- too much else to watch..plus these were instantly forgetable to me- the next day after I saw each one it was outta my thoughts!

I've already put this one out of my mind along with the other two. I don't think I'll ever watch them again.

I feel exactly the same way. I saw AUJ the day it came out, I still think it's the best of the three, but saying "it's not bad" doesn't mean it's all that good. Did a double feature the opening night of DOS and seeing them back to back was a chore; the second movie killed whatever enthusiasm I had for the third. I was willing to give it a shot, hoping it would get better, but not so much. By the time BOTFA came out, I went out of sheer obligation. It was something I had to do just because I had already put about 5 something hours into it. By the time I left, I was just glad that I'd never have to sit through them again.
It's just my opinion and I'm glad some folks out there get some enjoyment out of the movies, but they're not a patch on LOTR. The Hobbit was a light, kid friendly introduction to Middle Earth and it's characters. I hope someday they make a movie out of it.

In prepping for the EC of BOTFA I watched AUJ and TDOS EC this weekend... I watched them over 4 days... I don;t know if it was dividing them up that helped but I enjoyed them much more then usual. In fact it's the most I ever enjoyed TDOS. That is my least fav of all the middle earth films but I found it much more enjoyable this time.. I think some of it also has to do with finally being able to identify all the dwarfs :lol

I love the hobbit movies. Watched my two EE and BOTFA last week getting ready for tomorrow!! Very excited to complete my EE and watch the features and listen to the commentary!!

Yup, i'll be picking up my EE 3D tomorrow.

I wish they didn't look so human.

I know they did that just for the girls, to give them a handsome Aragorn version of a Hobbit. :lol
