Me too. I'm just not getting it at all. I watch movies to be entertained. This was not very entertaining. A little educational and inciteful maybe but if I want that I'll read an Andy McNabb novel or watch a documentary

Maybe the fact that we handed the Americans an ass whoop in both men's and women's Olympic Hockey, this may have left a bitter taste in the judges mouths, and knowing James Cameron is a legendary Canadian film director, they had to give all the hardware to Hurt Locker. lol!.

No, i am not serious.

hahahahahahaha !! you got a point there.

For me entertained means escapism and taking my mind off of things. Doesnt mean I actually have to enjoy something to be entertained. As long as it keeps me gripped. Job Done. When I saw this in the Cinema I sat there hoping my car wasn't being stolen and I was thinking about what I was going to have for breakfast the next morning. My Fiancee actually wouldnt talk to me for a few hours cos I told her this movie would be amazing and if she liked war movies, this is the ultimate one. I think when quotes from reviews were used to advertise this movie it game me the wrong idea of what it would be like. ' Has everything you could want from an acton movie' I think was one of them. I saw more action from my Grandad dancing at my cousins wedding.

There is no heroes in The hurt locker.
no powerfull battle scenes.
I felt nothing watching this movie.

this guys are real heroes !

Give me Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan, Das Boot, Tora Tora Tora any day. This was a good film but the hyperbole surounding this movie is reminiscent of the reports on weapons of mass destruction.

Avatards are the dumbest fans in recent memory. Even worse then Twitards. Only because they dont attack other (better) films to justify their own.

I'm actually not a massive fan of AVATAR. I am a big James Cameron fan and I thought it was good but not great. The only reason I chose my forum name as that is because most Terminator related names are gone.

I just thought Hurt Locker is Over-rated.

What people seem to be forgetting is that a movie that wins best film of the year doesn't make it the best film ever made, or even put it in the same company. It just happens to be considered the best of that year by those in the industry. Hurt Locker probably wouldn't have won up against the competition of the past years. But it is better than it's competition this year which is all it needed to be. Good film? Yes. Great film? Arguably. Best film ever? Not close. Better than the field this year? By industry standards yes.

BLACK HAWK DOWN was a better movie.
:lol

That's funny. What was even funnier was your video of you sulking after the Oscars.

It's funny all the naysayers hitting this thread up have Avatar related names/sigs/or boners.
Seems like they agreed to come into the thread to trash the Hurt Locker. Oooooooh!!

Exactly, well said.

I think a lot of this is expected backlash/sour grapes to user X's "favorite pick to win Academy Award" not winning out. It was a very good movie IMO, but like Wofford says, very few are going to argue that this was the best movie of all times. The Academy Awards are not based exclusively on merit. Accept that and move on.

You don't need to clarify your position to anyone. Wofford and a couple other guys were just trying to find an excuse to be condescending.

Apparently they like to pretend that anyone who disagrees with the Academy's decision to give The Hurt Locker the award for Best Picture must be one of those weirdos who dream about living on Pandora.

If Avatar won an acadamey award other than a technical one that Transformers won I wonder what this board would be like.:confused::confused: :rotfl
