According to Sideshow anything 1/4 is now considered a PF, mixed media or not.
Anything 1:4 scale regardless if it's now mixed media or fully sculpt is now called Premium Format.
If a person can't figure out "mixed media or not" then they need to go back to school.
The problem is you can't even be sure this will a closed ES even if they put Limited Edition: TBD on day1.
I placed my order for Galactus Maquette on day1 and I know for sure on day 1 they put Limited Edition: TBD (everybody thought that one would have a closed ES), few days later they changed it to "limited edition" and droped the TBD, and sure enough that one has been confirmed will be an open ES (I called Sideshow CS and asked Sideshow Rep at the Con).
Couple days ago we just found out Sideshow also changed Limited Edition: TBD to just "Limited Edition" for Dark Rider of Mordor PF (regular version) after a few weeks or maybe a few months after the item was up for order with TBD limited edition tag.
So tomorrow if you see Limited Edition: TBD that does not guarantee this WILL have a closed ES. Sideshow could change it anytime they want, which is not cool especially when NRD involves.
Limited is good, but I think those that want them to limited also want them to hold thier value just in case. Why is it always implied that people who want their statues to be limited plan on selling them at some point in the future?
I want my statues to be limited because it's what they should be.
Those days r long gone when SS show us ES first when product is up for preorder
Yes, I prefer Sideshow shows the ES when the product is up for pre-order like Skaar PF EX.
But I can accept if they put ES: TBD and later on announce what the ES is. Their reason is they want people to order because they like the statue not because the ES. Ok I get that, I am totally fine.
What I can't accept (and I don't understand why would anyone would accept this kind of practice especially when NRD involves) is they put ES: TBD when the product is up to make it look like that product will have a closed ES but then few days/few weeks/few months later they change it to open ES.
That's totally different than not having a set number of ES up front.
If you want to sell open ES product please put it up front, indicate it from the beginning as soon as the product up for order.
I know some of you here believe Sideshow can do NO WRONG, I would like to hear from you what would be the positive reason behind changing the ES: TBD to open ES after a few days/weeks/months?
I can't remember a Maquette not being 1/4

Cant wait to PO this tomorrow
I think one of the appeals is that these are collectible so regardless of whether you think you MIGHT sell it down the line, knowing there is a limited amount in the world is nice. Sure, ideally we all buy stuff with no intention of ever selling it but the truth is that people get bored of stuff, may need money, may need the space, and we sell stuff cuz we have to. when that time come(should it come), don't you want to sell it for more or at least what you bought it for? Open ES pretty much guarantees that you can't. Still, as long as PFs stay limited, I will continue to collect. I think if SSC decides to make everything open ES, my days of buying direct will end.
