The Avengers fad will go away soon enough. I highly doubt SS is going to Open Edition Sizes for their real PF statues. This is a side experiment that Legacy comes out with every few years. This is not a hulk statue in my opinion. It is Mark Ruffalo in a hulk costume. The statue is not bad, but all of you ripping on people who did not order is hilarious. Keep justifying the $650 price tag to yourself when you have to sell it for $300 in a couple of years. If you love it congrats, but please don't act like you are getting a "grail" hulk.

I am not preordering this piece, I merely find it amusing when some guy thinks his one little preorder is the fulcrum upon which all of Sideshow Collectibles swings. Um..... no.

Also amusing: the idea that the Avengers is a 'fad" which "will go away soon enough." This team, in varying incarnations has been around for DECADES. Not going anywheres; especially with new movies in the offing.

And lastly, not everyone buys to flip later. I sure don't. I have zero interest in enabling what flippers do, by insisting on edition sizes of ten or however many.

This hobby is not for investment purposes. Live it, learn it, and buy only what you love; because value is both fleeting and subjective.

So you admit that your gesture is futile, even as you make it?

:wacky

Oh well, you are certain to save bunches of $$$ with this strategy.

Of course my gesture is futile as far as changing SSC's business strategy for this maquette is concerned. To claim otherwise would be wacky.

I believe very firmly that bloated ES and open ES will eventually hurt SSC and it's collectors. I don't think it's wacky to not support their trend towards open ES given my views on the subject. It's pretty simple. I don't see why it's so difficult to understand my reasoning.

As far as how much money I save (and SSC could lose), that will depend on how far SSC is willing to further their open ES business strategy.

Mine will be a family heirloom.
Hope my son looks after it when I'm gone. :rip

I just find it funny that the biggest complainers of this whole ES thing are the newer collectors. You're not going to fund your retirement or build a nest egg for your family with statues.

The vet collectors seem to be taking this in stride...

...you buy enough pieces to singlehandedly make a dent in Sideshow's bottom line by not ordering!!?? Wow! That is amazing! I bow in the direction of your money-tree forest! :)

:rotfl that's a good one! Not saying I'm taking sides but it's a great response. :wink1: I don't believe anyone who hates flippers would sell their grails for retail. They will be sold for flipper prices as well as anyone else would. Well except if there's a great friend who you know very well. Then costs can be had. I love this reply every time I see it. Hell I hate flippers myself for making me pay more, but I will do the same to even out some of my costs rather than keep paying double or triple for statues I missed out on. :wink1: I already over paid on way too many statues already.

If you don't sell for market price someone will just take advantage of you and buy it at cost and then flip it themselves. Flippers and scalpers are evil degenerates, but I'm not stupid and I'm not going to allow someone to profit from my goodwill.

It's not a 'nest egg' I hope my son enjoys it as much as I will. My point is I will never sell this piece.
He's a huge Avengers fan at 5 years of age.

Wow. You truly are dense. I have NEVER once made any such claims. I tried to give you the reason why I will not buy open ES pieces. If you have a hard time understanding that then I really don't know what else to say to make it any clearer for you. I'll leave you to your rants on how much I spend on SSC merch. You seem to enjoy it.
