I've really been thinking about renting a storage unit lately. Mostly because of boxes but also some of the other stuff in the house we could free up room. Found a 5' by 10' climate controlled storage for $60 a month in right down the street.

I have a 10x10 unit right down the street from my apartment. Unfortunately, it's not filled with empty boxes, it's filled with full boxes. I can only display about 10-15% of my collection at this time the rest is in storage untill I buy a house. An I have a pretty big collection. At the time I only collect 1:1 bust an prop replicas. When I seen this hulk I had to order it right away an it sucks, because I can not have one in a set. I need the whole set. So after I ordered hulk I then had to order black widow (reg ordered - Ex on wait list)Thor & Captain America. Now the search begins for Iron Man Mark VI maquette. Also the wait begins for SS to make a movie version Hawkeye. Man I love this hobby...

Congrats to everyone getting this bad boy. I wish I could grab him but there is just no way to fit it into the budget at this point and if I am honest I have stayed away from the movie based figures as I prefer the comic book look a little more.

Looking forward to seeing this guy in peoples display next year

That is the funny thing about this Hulk with me. I tend to go for just comic based also. But this will blend my collection together very well. I have my Film based display area and my comic based display area. They sort of meet in the middle and Hulk will be the Perfect statue to bring it together.

If the film design of Characters Like Iron Man and Hulk are done well (ie Hulk in avengers is done well - Hulk in Ang Lee film NOT dobe well), I can go with film version or comic.

But the more human characters like Batman, Joker, X-men and so on need to be comic based IMO.

i just really dont get this movie vs comic nonsense. I mean sure for black widow pf you can say i prefer comic over movie and the pf is definitely a movie character.

But for hulk or the masked statues like capt/ironman, what the heck is the difference between movie vs comic. If you didnt know this was based off the avenger movie and was just shown the photos i bet you wouldnt even care or know.

It's all rather ridiculous to me.

Hey filip629 - Even though I have no issues with an open Edition for this particular piece and have ordered it I would like to say that I respect your decision to stand by what you believe in. Not always an easy thing to do.

Thank you Jaws. Not just for understanding my position but for allowing me to have a real conversation again with someone. My last one in this thread was such a bore.

I can understand why you picked up this maquette. Open ES or closed, this Hulk looks great. It'll look fantastic on your display shelves.

How many people do you think had ever heard of the Avengers before the movie? You have the comic fans, but most people did not know who these characters were. Marvel did a good job with IM, CA, and Thor movies to the build up of the avengers. Over time these movies will fade away and the majority of people will forget them. It is the flavor of the month and they may very well make another two or three movies. Who is to say the next two or three movies are any good.

Have you ever sold a statue? If so you are a flipper. I keep laughing at all of you who say this will be a family heirloom. I remember people saying that about the Rogue before it was shipped as well. Unless your going to be buried with this thing it will be sold in the future.

The funny thing is it will probably only have a production run of a few thousand, but no one will ever know because of the open ES. Comparing this to the real Hulk PF is ridiculous. It is like comparing the movie Captain America to the real SS Captain America PF. No comparison. I will now check out of this thread never to return. Good luck to all and bring on the next real Hulk PF. Either the Planet Hulk or World War Hulk.

Really !!?? :lol:cuckoo:

Your leaving :yess: :wave

Were really going to miss your informative posts

25.5" 18Kg my friend.
Bigger and heavier than Abomination PF and that's a beast.

Where are you from? Europe?
Where did you order?

with that weight hope SS will have this under discounted shipping like Alien Maq.
I live between Dubai and KSA, as you can imagine it's not the best place for collectors since SSC is the cheapest way always. the bright side, most of the times, for PF and HT anyway, no tax or import duty  I guess they see it as children toys and don't bother to check the price :monkey1

I agree with you Josh I am strictly into the comic based statues ( just a personal preference gagaliya) got to have my limits and that one. This statue for me could clearly pass for comic based for sure so I had to go for it.

Because while yes, they are similar, there's certain things that movie items just don't capture either because they don't find it viable to be able to pull off or they don't think will translate on film.

The Avengers Hulk and Movie Iron Man though are probably the two closest to the comics by comparison. But Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, The New Spider-man and the Nolan Batman film versions aren't like the comics and some people honestly will always prefer the comic book versions.

As mentioned this Hilk will fit well in any collection.
You ordered?

Nope, I like Keown's Hulk better, so if I'm going to pay over $400 on a statue of him I want him to look like this

Very interesting that this is no longer available anywhere for under retail. I wonder if Sideshow is going to make it OES but only available through them and/or restrict vendors to selling it strictly for $650.

Sideshow is testing a new business strategy with these OES items. :dunno

My guess (and this is just a guess) is that Sideshow is greatly reducing the retailer discount and forcing retailers to sell it for $650; this will ensure that more collectors will order direct through Sideshow massively increasing their profits.

Interesting to say the least...

Have to wait for ebay then until people who get sick of it want to sell it.
