Success! Finally found a Wal-Mart that had Indy stuff, picked up both 12" Indys. Thought about the Swordsman too for a moment, he looks damn good, but passed. I was hoping to get a few of the smaller figures for the relics, but they were picked clean already.
I was expecting to like the whip-action figure better, but surprisingly the talking Indy was the better toy. Despite the dubious sculpt, the talking gimmick actually works quite well and the articulation is decent. If I'd gotten this thing as a kid, I'd have been over the moon. The action feature on the whip-action figure pretty much ruins it, but the headsculpt and paint are shockingly good for a Hasbro figure, easily on par with the better Dragon heads.
I cherry picked the best pieces from each one, and popped them onto a Dragon body. Now I have a pretty good Cairo Indy to go with my coming Sideshow version. Wish I had a camera to take pics, I think people would be really surprised to see how good the whip-action head and the clothing and gear can look on a decent body.
