Life didn't begin until 2001 for most of sideshow.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

CelticPredator, you seem to be under the assumption all film critics have an educated background within their field. I can assure you this is not true.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

So why are you even here? If you don't care what people have to say....and don't say you don't care about the critics who understand film, but rather care about people who don't. :lol

Opinions equal discussion. They don't equal fact.

Because I can be and I've been here for 9 years. I didn't say I didn't care about what people say I just don't care about what most film critics have to say. If that bothers you ok.

Well the original trilogy is amongst my favorite films of all time (rate them all at least 9/10). Based on what I know about The Hobbit and the reviews i've read, i'm not going in expecting this to sit alongside those in terms of quality, but i'm expecting to be thoroughly entertained. So anywhere from 7-8.5/10. That's my expectation. Maybe it beats my expectation, we'll see.

What do you know about The Hobbit and what do you want to know? I expect these to be right there with LOTR in terms of quality but I guess I'll find out Thursday at midnight.

All? No. But most? Yes.

But why does a professional critic, someone who is educated in the field of film, have less merit then Fanboy Joe?

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Weren't you still sucking on your mom's titty back then? :)

Yeah, it got it's acclaim. But i'm talking internet, and i bet it would still get manhandled in 2012 and STILL get it's Oscars.

(The internetwebz gonna internetz)

I don't know what age you were still sucking your mom's titty's but i stopped back in the 80s :nana:

The internet may have exploded in the past 10 years but that doesn't mean films that deserve credit don't get it. Quite the opposite in fact. Now there are tons of films that would otherwise be very small niche films and unheard of outside of certain circles, that get the exposure to much larger audiences.

ok

Doesn't bother me, It just doesn't make sense why it bothers you.

It's a movie. It's an opinion. We share them here. That's what a Message board is. We aren't paid for our opinons, we state them out of passion, and entertainment.

They are paid to give their opinions to help people decide which film is worth 10-20 bucks.

Critics have very little barring on the outcome of the film today. Transformers 3 - beyond **** reviews, made millions. Twilight, awful reviews - made millions.

Dredd- Great reviews, made nothing.

What's going to affect the film is the film. Critics will always and forever exist. And they exist to help people. Some of them, at least. Not people like Armond White. :lol

They don't buy not all fanboys skip over criticisms. I'm one that tends to focus on them.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

That's not how Rotten Tomatoes works.

They take all the reviews and score them up, and then average the total.

That's it. Now, they do have an audience meter, but that **** is worthless because most people are dumb, and rate with their heart, not with anything thing else.

Yet guess what most people go by on that site..... :monkey4

It doesn't bother me what critics say. That's why I said I don't care what they say because it doesn't bother me. I put no stock in film critics at all.

I have no problems with people sharing their opinions. I will share mine and I may even share what I think of someone elses opinion.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

CelticP, may I ask why you're arguing with people in a Hobbit thread after you've made it clear that you never cared for Lord of the Rings or the medieval fantasy genre in general? :dunno

Celtic is very very confrontational. He even argues with you even when you are agreeing with him. I've noticed he likes to argue and confront a lot.

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

What some view as argument I view as conversation.

Getting upset on the interweb is silly. :lol
Whether people act like immature d-bags online or in person is irrelevant. They're still acting like immature d-bags. I don't think anyone's upset though, and I'm not saying CelticP's an immature d-bag.

Because this is a free forum, and i'm allowed to discuss whatever I want. Even if I don't have a stake in it.

And because people get angry over someone they don't know's opinions over a film they haven't seen.

Not with everyone. If you say something that I disagree with, I will disagree. As much as I will agree.
