Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I still don't know if I can find a way to sneak out and see this. But damn I must find a way. This and Zero Dark Thirty are all I need to see for months.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

The only thing that worries me is how dependant on cgi and bull**** gimmicks ol PJ has become. He's heading down the path of da Lucas, in part 2 gandalf's staff and beard will be cg no doubt :lol

I'm not going to worry about that either...I could still watch old Ray Harryhausen stuff and still love it not caring about effects that by today's standards is crap...it's story and what he's done with it that's important, and that's it...I dont mind PJ filling in gaps(the more the merrier as long as it keeps the flow and or isnt too out there).. I just dont want him to change too much what Tolkien wrote...otherwise I'm not worried a bit about this film...not even in what Format I watch it in,etc

As someone who isn't a fan of LOTR, and can look at the film without any sort of real passion.....ROTK is better then all the PT, and the Special Editions combined.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I can't take this guy seriously ever. He looks like he should be ****ing an apple pie in his parents kitchen. :rotfl

Yeah, this guy is kind of a tool. I'm glad he liked the movie but he seems like he needs things to just be action. What he doesn't get is that the first 40 mins pretty much follow like the book. That's what I understand from those that have seen it. Its going to be a decent amount of exsposition which is fine by me and you need that at times. Tolkien's work isn't about just action and that is something reviewers need to remember when seeing this. You've got to have action but you've also got to have exsposition.

I am pretty sure I will love every second of the film. Even the ones with Sylvester McCoy (who is awesome, by the way).

I think Radagast will be cool. The bird poop thing I think is a bit much but from what I've heard he's a neat character. He doesn't have a lot of backstory within what Tolkien wrote, but what is out there he would be a strange guy. He lives in the forrest and prefers to spend time with animals that says kind of strange to me. Besides if he was like Gandalf and Saruman what's the point of another character just like them.

I think this movie is going to be every bit as good as any of the LOTR movies.:rock

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I agree. I can't see myself not liking this.

If you can swing the midnight showing at the regal I'll be there. I'm sure your busy with daddy duties though, but wanted to let you know. :1-1:

I think I would want to hang myself the next morning. If I don't Julie would probably offer to push me off. :rotfl

I appreciate it. I will think about it but I doubt it. I have to be at work by 7am. :horror

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Yeah that is when I have to be up to get the kids ready for school. I will fulfill morning dad duties, call off sick to work then go back to sleep :lecture

If I had time left I would probably do the same thing. :lol

10 seconds of ROTK is better than anything Lucas has done in the past 20 years:lol
