Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I found little Goblin Scribe to be very entertaining for his brief moments on screen. Just the way he cackled psychotically as he zipped down the line, kind of like a gremlin. :D

I don't remember exactly what he looked like, so my comparison could be way off. But I remember thinking he reminded me of Dwork from the Boglins.

Josh, how tall are the dwarves suppose to be?

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

In general? Or a specific Dwarf?

In general 4.5-5ft tall.

The dwarves of The Hobbit. I know dwarves as we know them now are 4'10" or less, but I wasn't sure about middle earth dwarves. I was just curious.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

The last 45 minutes of this flick is ****ing bonkers when you're baked. :lol

Such a great movie. My top 5 of 2012:

1. TDKR
2. LOOPER
3. The Hobbit
4. Django Unchained
5. Killing Them Softly

They go back and forth a lot though.

Does anyone else feel like it was directed by James Cameron and not PJ though?

I miss dem make-up effects and dem epic-real-sets. And you know that was PJ's doing. They had enough for sure in the budget to build sets and have hundreds of extras. Instead it's "let's just CGI it". AKA the lazy way.

Got ya. According to what I found that's the range for height. Funny one of my grandmothers was in that range. :lol

I'm 5' barefoot. Though I always say 5'1". :D

The elves always seemed tall to me. When I was younger I always pictured elves being small.

That's just like in sports saying a player is taller than they really are.

They do give the impression they are very tall or at least some of them are supposed to be. They also all seem to be good looking people. Like they don't have any non supermodel elves. :lol

Thanks for the link. That's pretty much spot-on.

Excellent read. Thanks for the link.

No problem. :duff I think the title might sound a little harsh but I agree with the sentiment of the article. It lays out several things I've said earlier in this thread. Figured in the end it would be something that might generate some fun discussion.

The problem with that article I think is that he's preaching to the choir. The people/critics who don't like the Hobbit don't care about all the Tolkien history. And to me, that's their loss.

That's very true. I think you see some of that in this thread with people who are more GA folks than folks who are into the world Tolkien created.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Good article. Pretty spot on in my opinion. But hey if people don't want to embrace the larger world Tolkien created and immerse themselves in it it's their loss if you ask me. Most critics fall into that category and try to look at the movie as a standalone, standard film.

I agree. Its a fantastic fictional world that has a feel of being real with all the history and such. Its something I would push people to get immersed because its pretty fantastic.

They're so..........clean! :lol

I think I saw one scene in LotR where Legolas had a smudge of dirt on him.

He did get a little dirty as did Haldir at one point before biting it. Elves can walk on Snow and basically repel dirt. :lol

The article is great, but those comments are full of ****! :lol

I read some of the comments as well. I'm just like good lord people.
