Re: Predator Reboot...

I think it's a given that he'll be in it.

I assume that, I just hope he's just a cameo or just a supporting character. I'd like it attached to the original and I guess P2, but I feel it will only get botched and maybe it would be better to start fresh.

Re: Predator Reboot...

Shane Black says the Predator costume design will get an upgrade for the new film.

“It’s not to ‘improve,’ it’s make it fun, make it different, make it organically different.*So what’s the extension of it that makes sense, that’s exciting? There have been a lot of changes to Stan’s design over the years. These different Predator movies have done different things. Ultimately it’s not about design to me, it’s about the story you want to tell. There are people who are always going to agonize over Iron Man, what color his suit is. Maybe this weapon does a new thing, but if the story is not good I don’t give a ***** what color the suit is. In ‘The Predator’ we’re doing a lot of upgrades to what you would consider to be the traditional Predator technology and look, but hopefully the story is what’s going to drag people in, not just the attention to the minutiae.”

Shane Black talks R-rating.

“There’s also a sensibility and a sense of brooding menace and we can have fun but there’s an element of horror that’s unmistakable in The Predator”, he continued. “I don’t want to have to compromise it by just treating it like a popcorn film. That said, I hope there’s some popcorn viewing available in it, too. It’s an R-rated popcorn movie, which is the best kind to me.”

Re: Predator Reboot...

I like what he says about the R-Rating but this is the reason I'm just not a fan of his.

it’s make it fun, make it different, make it organically different.

I disliked IM3 but I still watched it with commentary to try to understand where he was coming from and he just seemed like a guy who does things because he "forces" himself to make changes just for the sake of it. Nothing organic at all about things.

With that said, bring on more Hot Toys Preds:D

Re: Predator Reboot...

Hmmm, this doesn't sound good. We may end up with another "Super Predator"

Just give us something similar to the original design, if it isn't about the design, why change it?...

Re: Predator Reboot...

my take on the Predator 'reboot' is, unless it's a decent worthy sequel or tie-in, I'm starting to not like reboots at all. Predators was tolerable but still less than ideal. But, I can't help but keep coming back to the quality that is the original movie, which makes me feel as if I wanted to watch/see Predator movie, I simply just watch 'Predator'.

I don't care how much better special effects have gotten for movies, and a 'remake' could be made all the more spectacular, the originals work for a reason. Direct remakes often fail, even with best of intentions. Perfect example, the late 90's remake, some shot for shot of Psycho. It was terrible. Some movies just don't need it. How often do you hear 'hey let's remake 2001'. Yeah maybe the FX could be more impressive but it would suck. While Shane Black is writing and directing, it's more nostalgia I think than anything else. I'll probably go see it when it comes out, but I'll have low expectations. Just my .02

Re: Predator Reboot...

I'm hoping it's a Predator that's been around for a long time. Multiple situations & battles through time - as movies within a movie. Maybe even present during the action in the other movies (P1 & P2). Like a more drawn-out version of the Logan & Creed "history lesson" in Wolverine Origins.

Who knows - but I'm looking forward to it regardless :)
