Re: Predator Reboot...

With it being an ensemble cast hopefully there's one or two more big stars still to sign up.

With the story taking place across multiple locations it would be cool to see BDT in some sort of Central Intelligence role like Keyes in Predator 2 but on a more complex level building on from what Predator 2 started.

Re: Predator Reboot...

I hope not. I want the story to be something completely now and unique with the Predator as something that evolves into the story. Non of this homeworld, Pred wars, super Pred crap.

I agree. The brief glimpse of the homeworld we got in AvP-R was enough, plus they really didn't/couldn't do much with it. That whole movie just needs to be eradicated from existence....

I'd much rather they focus the story HERE on Earth. If they feel the need to bring in a celestial tie in with the Predator's homeworld, have it where a human comes back to earth to tell the tale who was taken to their world to fight. A direct sequel to Predator 2 with BDT as CIA/Govt' baddie with a cameo with Arnie I'd approve. Set in the jungle of course!

Re: Predator Reboot...

I think one of the great things about the original was the fact that the team was made up of 3 real powerfully built actors who were equal to Arnie, even Bill Duke was passed off as virtually equal to Arnie's size. It was something that made the Predator far more dangerous, especially as it picked them off one at a time. In P2 Danny Glover, Ruben Blades and Bill Paxton were wily but never a physical threat to the Predator, Gary Busey was solidly built but never 'pumped'. Since the original film only Oleg Taktarov has been the physical imposing threat to the Predator that we saw with Arnie, Jesse Ventura, Sonny Landham and Carl Weathers.

So if either Del Toro or James Franco are the lead they'll be more in the mould of Glover and Adrien Brody. Could that lead to some extra muscle being needed? I think so and the likes of Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and may be a pro-wrestler or two being cast to really build up the squad.

Re: Predator Reboot...

I don't think it makes a difference.

If you think about it, Brody landed more significant close quarters hits on a superduper Predator than Arnold did on the Jungle hunter, Arnold was just running away. The people who managed to kill a Predator in a 1v1 fight weren't buff guys; Harrigan, Brody, the Yakuza guy, with close range weapons, then there's Billy who didn't last a second :lol. Dutch beat him because he was smart, not because he was buff.

My point is; I don't think a muscle dude represents a bigger threat to a Pred than a slender dude.

I'd be more scared if Medellín was after me than if it was Dutch.

Sure it makes a cool look though.

Re: Predator Reboot...

I agree with Magpie 100%

Please have him hunt real bad ***** this time out, no Adrian Brody dudes.

Regardless of the hits that connected, the visual is what matters.

I also think it looks cooler and I also think we need buff dudes.

I'm just saying buff dudes don't really represent a bigger threat to the Pred.

Btw, what's this about James Franco? Is HE gonna be in the movie?

the irony is that Adrian Brody looks MORE like a REAL life soldier than Arnold did. The predator would probably not go after a wrestler looking man
but the pred likes combat so the kinds of guys he would go after would be similar to Adrian. so predators and the Adrian story would be a little more realistic than pred going after a body builder

just sayin

Re: Predator Reboot...

That just made no sense. :lol

If you go by the Predator mythos they are attracted to threats, it turns them on. :lol

If anything skinny Brody is like that spanish girl in Predator, a non threat therefore he should be ignored unless he picks up a weapon.

Big boi's are threatening even when not holding a weapon, look at the Rock, his body is a weapon.

Are you high?

Re: Predator Reboot...

Crows is right, gym guys aren't made for combat, if anything those dudes will go down first, that's just comibook/action movie stuff, in which case I don't mind because it's an action movie :lol so oiled up muscle dudes are alright.

Or sweaty, uncoordinated cops afraid of heights :lol

Oily big muscles or GTFO!!

Oh, and Adrien Brody can gain 50 pounds of muscle, and he'll still look like a nerd. He's just wrong for that role...unless it's a realistic war film, then he's ok.

Re: Predator Reboot...

Had crows and Gaspar directed Predator this would've never existed:

We would've got this instead:

predator likes combat
how many soldiers really do look like Arnold? for example?
but how many look similar to brody?
how many body builders or WWE would be found in combat in the jungle?

Arnold was not even the most dangerous because he happened to be the strongest or the biggest.
he was the one that figured out things about the pred before the others and he was more clever, Arnolds brain and quick problem solving skills is what gave him advantage against the pred.

had nothing to do with his muscles

Pssssh

They sure look threatening though.

That's what you get for trying to look "badass" against an Emalianenko :lol

You look at those guys like Brock Lesnar and Kimbo Slice (rip) and they don't have anything on real fighters. There's a reason why soldiers don't look like the Rock, that **** ain't cost effective nor sustainable in combat situations, realistically they wouldn't last a week in the jungle.

But this isn't supposed to be realistic so it's ok, I just don't think they look badass in modern times, it worked in the 80's though. And no Jye, I would keep the original Predator as it is, oiled muscles and everything, it was the 80's.

Ideally a physique like Matt Damon's in the new Bourne movie or Casino Royale's Craig would be perfect for a soldier.

He would kick the **** out of Predator Arnold's and Predators Brody's *****.

Predators aren't real either, so who gives a ****? Big muscle guys look cool.

exactly so why do you two give a ** they cast Brody to beat up a fantastical creature? :lol its just a movie right? Adrian Brody is AN ACTOR doing his job ACTING in a movie,
so what if he looks like a nerd, the pred is just a guy in a suit. hes a really really talented ACTOR and was hired for his talent

the way he looks is irrelevant in this FAKE fantasy movie :wink1:

Big muscle guys look cool

you dont say

Re: Predator Reboot...

I've seen those guys before...

But no one wants Predator Hurt Locker, they want Predator v 80's muscle steroid men.
Sure sure, me too, now that they cast Del Toro they can cast whoever they want to fill the muscle quota. And like I've been saying, it's not supposed to be realistic so it doesn't matter.

I'm just saying, I don't think bodybuilders are really threatening 30 years after the boom of bodybuilding.

Del Toro looks cool, so he's fine. Adrien Brody doesn't and I don't want to see him near a Predator. He might be a good actor, but just because he's good it doesn't mean he can play any role. Al Pacino is a great actor, but would you cast him as Zod or the Terminator? **** no!

It really doesn't matter to me who they get for this film anyways. There are no legit action heroes anymore, just a bunch of actors that get in shape for superhero films, and then there's The Rock and Fat Diesel.

So you'll probably get your wish :lol
