Not exactly what you are talking about, but last year I tried this method of exercise I read about in the New York Times, where you all-out sprint for 30-40 seconds, then walk for 4 minutes, then sprint for another 30-40 seconds, then walk for another 4, etc., for about 30 minutes. I felt like complete crap the whole time, but I felt that it helped my jogging endurance a lot. Anyone do this kind of exercise, or have any feelings/feedback on it?

Yes, interval training is more benefitial then just straight-up jogging. Not only do you burn more calories, but doing interval training helps you build up and increase your metabolism.

Hey you guys I just thought I would share some of my off/on season meals that are both healthy and help with building and losing weight.

Chicken+carbs for days
Ingredients
8 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
10 medium potatoes, cubed
3 cups white rice uncooked
8 oz. can vegetarian chili beans
8 oz. can garlic tomatoes seasoning (to taste)

cooking spray (olive oil)

Directions
Cook rice according to package directions, and then set aside. Grill the chicken breasts in your BBQ or grill, or broil them in the oven under the broiler. Cut into 1/2 inch strips. While the chicken and rice are cooking, bring water to a boil with the potatoes in a large pot, reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 20 minutes. Combine chili beans and tomatoes in a large pot, add seasoning and let simmer. Add chicken, rice and potatoes, and cook for another 5 minutes. Serves four.

If you guys want to try running try the Nike Ipod thing. It is pretty damn cool! It tracks your progress, allows you to hit up power songs while your running, and includes you into a forum with other runners and friends. You can even create challenges for each other.

Yes, but more importantly the running shoe has to fit for that person. Who cares if it offers all of that wacky tabacky! Every foot is different. I have fallen arches, so I need pronated running shoes to give me that lift and arch.

stfu eli.....

:lol:rotfl:lol

Hilarious.

And Skiman, thanks for the recipes! I might have to try a few of those. :rock

And Karamazov, as Caedus said... the sprint and rest method really works for building an endurance and burning calories. I do that myself. I run full blast for a minute or so, and walk for 30 seconds or so... repeat until I reach my 2 miles. The great thing is, the better you get at it, the quicker you reach your destination.

In another week or so, I might have to up it to 3 miles. It's worked so far.

You can use the nike+iPod gizmo on any shoe with one of these guys: https://www.grantwoodtechnology.com/shoepouch/

That's a pretty cool way of getting around it. The Nike Ipod system is pretty cool, if I had the money I might try it myself. Or do this instead.

That said I really do need new running shoes. I've been using mine for 5 years now and they are looking rough. The bottom layer of rubber already wore off of both shoes.. :lol

My brother told me you should replace them every 6 months if you're doing steady running, to which I reply in my head are you going to ^^^^ing buy them for me :lol

I do love my running shoes, what a difference. I started out running in basketball shoes, not a good idea, my running shoes make it like I'm running on air, I don't feel my feet impacting the ground hardly at all. Got them for half off too which didn't bother me at all.

Good luck Ill.

I just got back from *huff* run and *huff*, wow has it been *huff* 9 years since I last *huf^^^^^huff* did that just to run. I know it will *huff* get better.

It gets better right?
Thanks Adam!

I know EXACTLY how you felt! Within a few minutes my lungs were on fire, and everything was aching; it was like my body was saying WTF are you doing/Did you do to me?! :lol

I know from experience that it does indeed get better though, a few years back I was working out regularly, after a few weeks I was running at a good pace and my stamina was much better.

Definitely get new shoes man, don't risk injury by continuing to use these. Hit up eBay, you can get some good running shoes for cheap if you do some hunting.

I'm retarded about shoes but it does keep my feet feeling good, I have running shoes, leg day shoes, back day shoes and just reg lifting shoes. It's pretty insane my grl thinks I'm nuts but they all serve a different purpose whenever I'm at the gym.

Yeah, I desperately need to get some new shoes. As soon as I can sell some more swag, I will do that immediately. They really need to go, I've wore them out. :lol

Ill, of ya got a sore knee the keep that baby strapped up until you build up the muscle around it & do what I said last night, go swimming

Hooray for me. I have lost 5 lbs this week so far with a grand total of 13lbs lost since the first week of May. :woo

Indeed! Arnold is the man... I live by his Encyclopedia, so I figured what better to use as my avi than the image on the cover. :rock

Now if I could only get my arm to look like that. :lol

:lol:lol:lol if anybody could ever get their arm like that :rotfl We r talking naturally or at least on what they had to work with back in the day.

Great book, I hug mine daily, lots of good tips.

Damn you high metabolism people :lol

Could be a mixture of fat water and muscle, instead of just fat alone. Especially if he's a cardio bunny, and the protein isn't high. 13 in 3 weeks is kinda high, congrats anyhow though.

(lotta people think they're losing just fat when the muscle is going away as well, it can add up to over 25% of your total weight loss. Gotta strength train)
