Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Uh, I must be blind because I don't see anything in imdb that would imply IronE (yes, his parents should be shot) isn't on the show next season.

is just the number of episodes, that gives it away, He might just not be on screen and in the story he might be going somewhere else, but he doesnt have the same number of episodes, it might not mean anything, but when a character in a show has less episodes than the rest it usually means something

He wasn't in the pilot episode so his episode total appears correct to me.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I don't think so, I am fine with having no zombies show up, and I am find with them being in the Farm, but I wish they did something better with the characters.

My only real problem with the show is not so much the pace but the aimlessness to it. Im having a real hard time imagining what the end game for this show will be. I've never even picked up an issue of the comic but can already tell that they will end up leaving the farm and ending up right back where they were at the beginning of the season.
Is this all that the show will be? Aimlessly wandering from place to place as their numbers dwindle until the show is cancelled? At least if there was a clear goal they were building up to the slow pace would be annoying but forgiveable. But right now im just having a hard time seeing the point of the whole thing.

You may want to put your last sentence with a spoiler tag in case its true or remove the whole thing.......

yeah not a spoiler but I was looking at their episode list, but Mister Ski is right,

That's what I was afraid of, about not really having a goal for now,
Hopefully with these new episodes things will change

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

personally, i think the reason audiences are even noticing the unchanging setting (eg: farm) is due to the writing --- story and characterisation. if the human drama was riveting enough, we wouldn't care and it wouldn't matter that they were stuck mostly in one location. the fact that audiences are getting antsy simply means that the so-called characterisation and plot movement is a little lacking.

not saying what they have is crap, far from it. but like i said in an earlier post the last episode really felt like treading water (or aimlessness as others have put it), with little meaningful development. this is especially noticeable after the bulk of the first half of season 2 being dedicated mainly to looking for sophia and therefore needing to anchor themselves down to one spot for longer. ultimately, it was resolved in a powerful way, but the overall sluggish momentum WAS felt.

Or it could also mean that this show doesn't provide the instant gratification that our society has come to take for granted and demand in everything we do. Cell phones, IMs, blogs, fast food, etc...

Like I have said several times already, this show is never going to be like that. The books are not, so why would the show? It is a show with a slow burn. The main focus of the show is continually building the characters and plots and interspersed are the zombie encounters. It is an ever present threat even if we don't actually see them (zombies) on screen for an episode or two.

I can see where you are coming from when you say the last episode was slow. I can even agree with it to a point. But to say there was little meaningful development is simply not accurate. Rick's character development has taken on a whole new direction with his shooting of the two scumbags in the bar. I imagine this will continue to play out over the rest of the episodes this season.

Now say something nice about Dale!

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Slow burns don't bother me. Boring drama does. I want more surviving, and less chilling. Where are they getting food from? Show me that. Show me drama about the world, or up the characters more. Rick got more interesting. Why can't Dale, or Lori?

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Still. Show me that stuff. I guess i keep assuming this is a post apocolyptic drama, so the fact they,re still tending that farm keeps sliping my mind.:lol Still want more survival stuff.

Yes. That would definitely make the show more exiting!!!

I wanna see them milking cows, picking eggs, and slaughtering pigs and chickens. :hi5:

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

More survival? No thanks. They showed you chickens - do you really need to see them planting corn? They showed the wells where they get water. I get it, and I don't need to see any more.

Last episode not only gave us the funeral - did you really think they needed to skip that part, as well as skipping any effect the death of Sophia had on various members of the group? It also gave us developments with the sickness of one of Hershel's people, new people showing out of the blue, Rick gunning down two humans, Hershel making the transition from hating Rick to realizing he can protect his girls, the further decline of Shane in several scenes, not to mention my favorite scene of the whole episode - Andrea stopping the truck to go back and pick up an arm that fell off on the ground. Why do I like that scene? Because that shows how both the characters and the world has changed. There was nothing special about it. No zombie suddenly tried to grab someone. It was not meant for any dramatic purpose. It simply was showing that this is how far both the world and Andrea have changed - picking up a human's arm off the ground and tossing it into the back of an old pickup is no different than grabbing any other piece of litter up off the ground.
