I agree something should be done, I wouldn't feed or fall into the hype about eliteness of being a owner of this piece, I think that is what Sideshow really wants the collectors to believe...that they are just that elite... It's really going to be interesting to see what the future entails for this piece and those first future owners experiences when it's all said and done.
Well said Ski.
Sideshow will have no problem selling this item. If you're already emailing them telling them that you'll only put down the deposit if they meet your demands - I'm telling you now - they'd rather not have your deposit.
There will be plenty of people that will want this item and since there isn't some arbitrary edition size that they have to produce, they'll make just enough to fill the orders. It could end up being one of the rarest SSC pieces ever produced.
Look at the first SSC/Weta LotR pieces - they were unnumbered and are now some of the most sought after.
Dave, yes, this is true, I know. It could be one of the rarer pieces, then again, it could be selling for many years to come. As a collector buying from now a well established company in the collectables business, to me it just does not say much to do what they are doing. I could understand, maybe, if they were just starting out. But they are a business to make money ... and to this point they have done this well while balancing the needs and wants of avid collectors. This move from SS, IMO, is not one that does that. I fear this could be a future trend, and we should let them know that it is not acceptable. This is of course, assuming that people do indeed feel this way as avid collectors. I may be in the minority here.
Im not sure if I look at this so much as an investment as some of you. ES matters but no so much since I dont sell these.
Also, if sideshow screws me over then they will get it back! All I have to do is call them and say its sh@@! And then they send me a paid return slip and it goes back!
Simple, easy and painless!
No I am not afraid, I think Sideshow is a very good company and they will take care of me.
Is it going to depreciate? I would think it will, I am not going to lie to you and say it will not. And for that you can wait about a year and buy for maybe less than $1500.00.
Its like the new sports car, you drive it out of the lot and it devaluates! But if you wait a while you will be able to get it less.
How long would you like to wait?
And Aver, this is why I know I can order it and be safe with my money with them. What I am saying is that this piece should NOT be like that of a car. It is supposed to be a high end collectable, it should be treated as such, from the way it is boxed, to the way it made, to the way it is numbered, to the way it has an ES.
If CM can do this, so can SS. I mean really, we are talking about $2000 item here.
Again, maybe I am in the minority with this, and if so, I will zip my lip, :
And this is one of the things I like about you Aver ... you go into buying a collectable because it what you want, not for an investment purpose ... indeed a sign of an avid collector.
I guess my big fear is that SS will continue doing this more and more in the future if we do not let them know that this is simply not acceptable for a high end collectable at $2000. Yet, they do have numbered bases and ES for pieces as low as $150.
Make no sense to me.
