I hate people like this.

Six refugees are suing a Pennsylvania school district, claiming they were dumped in a disciplinary school and are being denied access to a quality education.

The students, who range in age from 17 to 21, are from Somalia, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Burma.

They had hoped to enter McCaskey High School in Lancaster, Pa., but were sent to Phoenix Academy, an alternative high school for “underachieving” students in the district.

The refugee students, who are being represented by the Pennsylvania branch of the American Civil Liberties Union, also claim to have been “traumatized” by security measures at Phoenix Academy, including pat-downs and property searches.

“[The] Plaintiffs are refugees who have fled war, violence, and persecution from their native countries,” the lawsuit says. “Having finally escaped their turbulent environment to resettle in America, these young immigrants yearn to learn English and get an education so they can make a life for themselves.”

“Our clients have already experienced much trauma and loss before arriving in this country,” Reggie Shuford, executive director of the ACLU of Pennsylvania, said in a statement. “Rather than helping them make the difficult adjustment by providing educational resources required by law, the school district has denied them an education completely or forced them into an alternative school, where they are often bullied and don’t learn.”

Somali refugee Qasim Hassan told the court through an interpreter, “I did not find the school that I deserved," PennLive reported.

So, let me get this straight :lol. They come from absolute worst regions of the world, saw their neighbors and families killed, experienced untold amounts of violence, and they're complaining about being "traumatized" from pat downs and searches? Hope this case gets thrown out.

I think the European nations really should've put a work program in place for them. Don't give free housing, and food. Instead, put them to work - have them pick up litter off the streets, janitorial work, or whatever other tasks are available. That way, they get to keep their housing, and a weekly supply of the bare essentials they'll need to live on. Anyone who can't do that, or refuses to contribute to the societies that took them in, gets sent back.

I can't even fathom how refugees get better opportunities than other Americans in that region. I agree that they have no case here. But, then again, 'Merica.

Hopefully it gets thrown out and that lawyer gets disbarred.

Well, if you're talking about here (as in the U.S), the situation's much different. We actually take in less refugees as compared to the European nations, and the screening process is much more stringent. They have to apply to the U.S through the U.N, and if their applications are even accepted, they then go through security checks with DHS, USCIS, as well as interviews with immigration officers. They need valid, legal documents to even qualify, in addition to a waiting period of 2 to 3 years and medical checks. That's not to say that problems won't still happen, they always do. But, we haven't had any issues with mass rape-gangs, like they do like in many European nations - where the standards for accepting refugees is much more laxed, and they have no process of screening out the criminals or potential criminals.
