This is what happens when you give free health care to people who contribute nothing to society.

That is a very interesting leap of logic.

There are a lot of reasons health insurance premiums keep increasing--prices rising for drugs and procedures, insurances companies having to pay out more money now that more people are insured, etc. However, one of the biggest reasons premiums went up was because Congress chose not to pay insurance companies what they were supposed to pay as part of the plan. Congress refusing to pay the amount owed and continuing to block payment means that the insurance companies decided to up the premiums to make up for the loss.

Drug price increases are absolutely ridiculous. I see the prices on a day-to-day basis and deal with angry customers that immediately blame Obama instead of the drug companies. Mind you, some of these people want the government to stay out of their insurance--meanwhile, they're on Medicare. Others proudly gloat that Trump will get rid of "Obamacare" and that it won't affect them because they're covered under the Affordable Care Act. :slap

It's sickening how much these drug companies charge for meds. I get that it costs money to develop, market, and produce. But raising prices by 700%, 1000%, or even 300% is asinine. They do it because they know people will pay it now and suffer later.

Talk about a ********* of the first order...

As someone who's on the opposite end and see's patients daily in the ER/Hospital/ICU....I can say that 80% of ED patients could've gone to their PCP and/or Urgent Care. It's sad to see that people rush to the ED with the slightest pain, discomfort, only to be discharged a few hours later with some OTC pain meds. Don't get me wrong I see plenty of acuity that needs to be admitted and needs urgent intervention. But the shear amount of non-acute patients that come through to the ER is astounding. Then people wonder why our health care costs are so high. Its not just people off the streets; Nursing homes, rehabs, etc....anything even remotely abnormal with their patients warrants an immediate trip to the ED.

And FYI...by law you are required to be seen by an attending physician after an intern/resident/fellow evaluates you. Unfortunately that doesn't apply to NPs and PAs.

He charges more to insurance companies for a treatment for taxoplasmosis. This is a medication that every other pharmaceutical company had quit making.

If an individual cannot afford the medicine Shkreli will send it to them personally free of charge.

You sound like you know what you're talking about. Do the insurance companies eat the increased costs, or do they pass it on to their customers? Serious question. Not trolling or trying to make a point.

And yes, I know he said that^, but he made the statement after all the uproar when it was determined he hike the price of the drug from $13.50 to $750 a pill. Would he have said that prior to the backlash?

And calling someone I don't know a ********* is probably not the best thing to do, but when I see the photos of him smirking, that's the first impression I get. :dunno

One person's sensible business acumen is another person's douchery. The guy's a ******.

Especially when it comes to cancer meds, epipens, and insulin. The drug companies don't care how people pay for it--they just know that they will.

ADHD meds are expensive as well and prescribed like candy. What's messed up is that a brand name med like Metadate CD costs anywhere from $700-$1000 a bottle (depending on the strength). The generic is usually a few hundred dollars less. Oklahoma DHS insurance will only pay for the name brand even though the generic is the same thing. The State wastes a ton of money every year paying for medications like that when there are cheaper options.

Australia's Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme is a subsidisation scheme that ensures that any listed medications don't cost patients more than a $40 co-payment.

Attempts to wind back the substantial cost, in exchange for a reduced personal income tax rate, have always proved politically unpopular.

trump will eventually choose a cheaper and logical insurance policy for america.
my gut feeling...its gonna be miracle beads for everyone.
