The $812 penalty on my Wife's tax return because she didn't sign up for Obamacare last year.

The land of the free......

That whole scam was nothing but deceptive cost shifting BS. Can't believe so many fools bought into the idea that it could ever work as was advertised.

The fact that Brian Blessed didn't play Torin because Del Toro left the project.
Just thinkin' of how perfect and awesome he'd be in the role makes me hate "Der Hobbot" movies even more.

The insurance through her employer was too high so we were going to wait until we got married and have her on my insurance.

Out of curiosity, did you get married last year, or this year (belated congratulations, by the way).

By your first statement, I'm assuming that you're both filing separately? Have you looked into filing jointly?

(Apologize if they seem like "dumb" questions)

YMMV, but you can't make generalizations.

My small employer's health care would have cost me $1,200 to cover my family, even with my employer's contribution.

Oh, and that's per PAY PERIOD, not per month.

Getting coverage through the ACA costs me $600 a month to cover my family.

Is the ACA the best/perfect solution? No. But it's what we have right now. :dunno

Got married in December and we filed jointly. And because she went most of the year without insurance, we got the penalty.

Holy crap. I had never heard that. But you're right. That makes me hate the movies more. BB would have been perfect as Thorin. :crying
