You are right but this goes beyond the mental ill. Even if this happen in front of them, these hardliner won't change much. They'll simply make excuses. It's the culture that we live in. 57 dead and 500+ wounded, did anyone with a gun besides the officer kill him? No, he committed suicide. Never thought one person can take down that much people. Guess bullets can double hit or ricochet. The simplest solution is to remove the guns. The effect won't be known in the short run but definitely in the long run. But no, not in America.

Illegal guns are the larger problem. You might get a couple of these events per year. So you need to penalize hundreds of millions of people that mind their business? Terrorism were told is not all Muslims, so how about not all gun owners are responsible for mass shootings?

You people are so ready to sign over rights and allowing the government more authority...

In the end, you can't regulate evil. The blindness to that is staggering. Anyone can go rent a truck and drive it into the crowd and kill this many people, or more.

my argument is never "ppl are still going to do X, then why bother with any laws? "
my argument (OR question because it is a question technically) is, how do they plan to stop the illegal sell of guns? the huge markets that will come out of it. my only argument was, every city in the country has people using drugs, it is like an epidemic. Im not talking about "Some illegal behavior just being part of life"
im talking about literally millions of people breaking the law and buying/selling. so the question i always get is, if they pass the laws and stuff. HOW do they stop illegal sells? because they completely failed with the war on drugs. we have very strong drug laws yet the streets are filled with them, like, do you see the problem?

The gunman bought his weapon legally in two shop in Nevada. This is not even illegal.

Im not arguing that guns should be banned.

Cartels are going to sell whatever they want/can.

I honestly believe the more people carrying, the better. But this situation wouldn't of benefited from it given the proximity of the shooter. The Florida nightclub? Certainly would of.

You want to wait for cops? Be my guest. I'm putting a full magazine in their general direction.

Don't worry. The system won't be able to take your weapon away. Say what you want, if Mr. Green have it his way, all guns will be confiscated and become illegals. It doesn't matter if they're bought legally or illegal, all should be gone. The benefit won't be immediate but eventually.

so, build a wall around the guns? lol

It only benefits the black market. We don't live in this dreamworld Liberal utopia where everyone is peace loving. People have the right to protect themselves by any means necessary.

Yuck his ****ing crocodile tears. He's the go to guy now for politicizing and pushing agendas on late night. Bodies weren't even cold and all these soulless Hollywood types and politicians have to run their mouths.

Respect the dead. Have some ****ing decency.

For hundreds of millions of guns in the country, the disproportionate majority of murders done with them are illegally bought. This amount of people are shot every weekend in Chicago. Where's the outrage there? Where's the tears for grandmothers and children shot with stray bullets?

I call bull**** on that, and I agree with him. You want to talk about crocodile tears, let’s talk about Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House Press Secretary. We have Donald Trump saying “this act of evil will not break our unity.” What ****ing “unity” are you talking about?:lol This country may as well be the Divided States of America, and I think Kimmel’s right. Their thoughts and prayers do ring hollow, but, at the same time, I agree with you, in that I’m ****ing done with the politicization of these events. Democrats, Republicans; I wish they’d all just keep their mouths shut whenever some **** like this happens, and it goes back to what I said before about these people being props. We’ll never know their names, we’ll never remember their faces; all we’ll ever know is a body count; a statistic that, in time, will be forgotten, so, I just wish people would cut the bull**** already and stop pretending to care, because we don’t. In a week, this will hardly be a topic of conversation and I will always think that the millions of “thoughts and prayers” are ****ing meaningless.

For me the more telling event was when congress tried to ban people on the no fly list from buying a gun- the logic being if youre too dangerous to get on a plane, youre too dangerous to own a gun. They defeated that measure arguing it was unfair to the ppl wrongly on the no fly list.

Give that some thought. And ask yourself whose interests are really being served.

She's a jug head. But no matter who the president was... is anything they say going to make anything better? In the end of the day, it's a bunch of hypocritical bull ****. The ones wanting guns gone still want their security carrying them. So **** off. :lol

There's enough laws. Just enforce them. Some laws I find outright ridiculous. In NY you can only have around 7 rounds in your magazine... so what if there's multiple people breaking into your home?

Automatic weapons should be across the board illegal, but they might as well be now considering it's next impossible to get one currently.

As for Kimmel, I think he's a fake. He did the same thing with his son's heart issue.

The fact is, humans have been killing each other for thousands of years, before firearms were even around. So, if someone truly wants to commit evil and take innocent lives, nothing will stop them - not even the regulation of firearms. The most dangerous weapon, is the human mind.

It doesn't matter if it's a dream or not. We're only moving in a dark direction with this status quo. No real step is taken to prevent such. The black market and everything else will be dealt with later but we haven't really taken any step.

Again, your weapon and whatever else you have, is safe. Even if the attack happen to you, you won't be able to help much. And if you happen to carry a weapon at the time, the officer might think you're the problem gunman.

The Boston bombers did perfectly fine with pressure cookers. The 911 hijackers did fine with box cutters. The list goes on. If tool A isn't available, they'll go with B, so on and so forth.

All guns are banned. Then we'll have to ban U-Haul trucks. Ban those, you'll need to ban nail guns. Hammers. Whatever.

You're safe in NJ, don't worry.

the thing i dont like is that u dont need a background check at gun shows or private sales (like craiglist) that seems really messed up.

I walk through some pretty dicey areas in NYC :lol. The city is awesome, but the local and state politics suck. You always have to be on the alert and rely on just your street smarts.

Ok, why is it messed up?

It's messed up to me because some paranoid alcoholic nut with a conviction for domestic battery can buy a gun with no questions asked (if I understand the process corrcetly). I submit that you and I are less safe in society when this is permitted.

Will it stop every paranoid alcoholic nut with a conviction from getting a gun? No. But it may stop 3 of 10. Society has said this person is too much of a risk to own a gun. And i'd rather stop 3 of 10 than 0 of 10.

And he cant kill 50 ppl with a rock.
