To bootleg or not to bootleg, that is the question. (concerts / panels / etc.)

Short of it:

What is the consensus? Is it okay to record audio/video even when posted it's not allowed?

Long of it:

So tonight I went to a really good concert. I was surprised at how much I liked it. I might put it in the top 5 concerts I've seen. It was at the Dodge Theatre, probably figure it out from there.

Anyway, clearly "No Video/Recording Devices" posted, but they can't take my iPhone, right? So I get through the entrance and find my seat and inconspicuously I take a few photos and a couple minutes of a few songs. Not the whole song, and I'm keeping my iphone down by my chest. After maybe 4 or 5 videos, security tells me to stop, which I do immediately, not wanting to be thrown out of this concert that I was really enjoying.

The dude sitting next to me laughed at the security guard, gave me a fist pump, some comment about "F the man" and it was over.

I just checked out what I got, and it's piss poor quality, sound is very "tingy," but I'm so glad I could capture those few minutes of a live concert by one of my favorite artists that it was worth it.

Who did you see? God it's hot tonight. Balls hot. And I'd say do it, but don't get caught by the man. :wink1:

bootlegging for personal enjoyment or to share with a select few people=go for it.

bootlegging to upload to some massive site so 1,000s of people can have it=not cool, IMO.

Someone I've been listening to since the early 90's. She's my "happy place."

Does anyone know how to get video off of your iphone anymore? I'll host a few of the videos if I can figure out how to get it off. I used to be able to download as a "device" in the "my computer" menu of me Dell, but now it doesn't show up anymore after a few phone OS "upgrades."

Don't be so coy Scott. Who is it? Wait, Google give me the strength...Sparklehorse?

Close. You'll figure it out. I may need to turn in my man card after its posted, but I friggin' love this person's music.

Just figured out my iphone, had to "yahoo answers" it. Maybe be able to upload, but they will get pulled. I'll name it something bunk.

Jesus man, spill it! And in case you forgot...BOYS II MEN! Come on, I just threw down the gauntlet. PowerJam 92', with a bunch of other crappy R&B singers.

lol at your shame. i'm a fan of lots of chicks music. aimee mann, kate bush, tori amos, anne lennox, annie haslum, heart, geniuses!

Oh well, the only time I ever recorded something was at SW Celebration III, for George Lucas' appearance. I wanted proof, but that was only like 30 seconds.

Aw you big **** Scott, everyone liked 10,000 Maniacs in the 90's. :lol It's no big deal man, I remember my old roommate called me a *** for collecting action dolls. I called him a hypocrite when I lifted up his Celene Dion Titanic CD and I was like "Really?".

okay, first video in process.

Remember, it's amateur quality
