Cue "Rammstein - Kokain":

Und fress die eigne Nachgeburt

Re: Venom Movie: Sony working on the Spin-Off

It will absolutely be tied to Spider-Man. Just not the MCU Spider-Man.

Have you not been reading the news? This venom is in the mcu. Your made up rumors carry no weight as usual.

Re: Venom Movie: Sony working on the Spin-Off

Wait 'till they announce a trilogy of movies based on Maximum Clonage...

They just announced a kraven and mysterio spin off film. Cause that's totally gonna work. They are trying to bleed spidey dry. They are to stupid to realize that these are villains and not standalone heroes.

Re: Venom Movie: Sony working on the Spin-Off

Musta been a slow Thursday night for someone.

The irony is that he's trying to attack me with those quotes but most of them are not from the corresponding threads to those movies. My policy on commenting on films here is that if I disliked something, I'll voice it and maybe follow up a few times right after. After that I'm done. If something is good I'll stick around longer. Same goes for stuff that's on the way. If its something I'm interested in, I'll be active. If it looks bad, I have no desire to even discuss it (Bayformers, Pirates, Most MCU material).

I don't have time to waste in a thread for something I don't give a **** about, unlike the gems this thread sadly keeps on summoning.

ironwez20 and SNIKT1950 you guys need to hug it out or take a break from responding to one another. Things are clearly too heated and personal.

Most of us here are irrationally passionate about one intellectual property or another but let's still try and be able to disagree without insulting the other person's opinions or the other person directly.

Re: Venom Movie: Sony working on the Spin-Off

If they're gonna go with something Spidey-related from the 1990s, then there's only one rational decision.

I take no pleasure in saying this, but. . .I would probably prefer a Zach Snyder superhero movie over Maximum ****ing Carnage. Damn, do I hate the 1990s.

I loved the 90s Spidey storylines. They were more serious & more intense. The book clearly wanted to match up to the heavy stakes the X-Men were being given and MC did that in spades.

A symbiote-powered serial killer on a rampage through NYC is already a superb tagline for a CBM.

Raimi brought the 60s to life and Webb tackled Ultimate Spidey. I like the idea of SONY finding inspiration in the complex tales of the 90s and using the R-rating to push them further tonally and viscerally.

Re: Venom Movie: Sony working on the Spin-Off

I used to have a Spider-Man comic from that time (probably around here somewhere), and in one of the scenes Carnage hijacked the stage at a metal concert, grabbed the microphone, and said "Hiya kids, I'm Carnage! I kill people!"

I remember thinking it was funny; it would be cool if they made a nod to that.

McConaughey would be the perfect Kasady. Not sure he'd touch a CBM given that he rejected Gunn's Adam Warlock offer, but after seeing how commercial The Dark Tower looks, he might not be an impossible choice (specially with the freedom of the R-rating & someone like Hardy to star opposite of).

Oh dang, I hadn't considered him as Carnage before! I'd love to see that. I just recently saw Interstellar for the first time, and he was great.

Weren't there some rumors about Jim Carrey as Carnage a few years ago, a little after Spider-Man 3? That would've been neat, but he feels the same in most of his roles.

Carrey would have been cool. I was surprised by how much I liked him in Kick-Ass 2 (despite the movie being ****).

Re: Venom Movie: Sony working on the Spin-Off

I don't see Sony tackling maximum carnage. Once they do carnage in this movie I feel like that's a one and done.

Re: Venom Movie: Sony working on the Spin-Off

But how will they faithfully adapt (unlike the MCU) Maximum Carnage, one of the Greatest Comic Book Stories of ALL TIME(!) without:

>Captain America
>Deathlok
>Iron Fist
>Firestar
>Cloak & Dagger

Re: Venom Movie: Sony working on the Spin-Off

Not a lot of R-rated spidey stories out there worth putting to film. Can't really see aside from Maximum Carnage how Spidey could benefit from an R-rated universe.

I'm truly surprised we're getting a venom/carnage film to begin with though and not a Miles Morales movie.

Re: Venom Movie: Sony working on the Spin-Off

why does it need to be rated r?

will there be nudity? no
will there be cursing? no
will there be gore? not really

why does it need to be R? is Venom gonna decapitate people? is he gonna eat humans? Venom is Not SPAWN... and as dark as Carnage is, Carnage is not spawn either.

so I dont get why this would need to be rated R, the tone can definitely be dark, and the movie can have a dark atmosphere, but I dont see why the action cant just be like X men 2 or be like man of Steel or something like that (but darker)

why does this need an R rating? im not saying to make it light or make it goofy like guardians of the Galaxy but it doesnt need to be Deadpool either

Re: Venom Movie: Sony working on the Spin-Off

While I'm going to assume they will get a big name actor for Carnage, I think Joe Gilgun from Preacher would be excellent in the role.
