Re: Top 10 Television Series' Of The Decade
Haven't given this a lot of thought... and I haven't watched a lot of shows. Here's what I can think of in no particular order (except Number 1).
1) LOST (easy win)
2) Fringe
3) Arrested Development
4) Community (it's a newer show, but I laugh my ass off every episode.)
5) Firefly
6) 30 Rock
7) American Idol (I don't watch it religiously but come on... it's such a huge phenomenon, and easily the best talent show ever IMO.)
8) The Simpsons (I don't enjoy it as much as I used to, and I think it is weaker than it used to be, but it really defined the grown-up cartoon with social commentary)
Here's where I start grasping at straws a bit... if I could go back further than 10 years it would be easy. Two older shows that jump to mind immediately for a top 10 are Batman the Animated Series and Seinfeld.
Here's what I got for the last two at the moment:
9) Wonderfalls (This, like Firefly, falls into the 'Fox's brilliant but canceled' category)
10) The Office (UK version)
I am going with the British Office because I watched it in it's entirety and have only seen a few episodes of the US version. The first season of the US one didn't do much for me, because I was constantly comparing it to the UK version. I love Gervace as David Brent. The conclusion of the UK version is just so awesome too. Very epic and emotional. Glad the characters all got the closure they did. In the US one - from the little I've seen - it seems that they are stretching the characters a bit thin, to the point of campyness. I may have had a different opinion if I had seen the US version first, and experienced the whole show, but watayagonna do.
