Re: My review of Ultron PF EX

It should not had been pegs used but magnets.

Didn't I tell you! :monkey1
The only magnetized parts are those buttons for his cape, when those ones could have used pegs while the ears should have the magnets. :slap

6 out of 10 sounds about right & fair.

What are you going to be doing yours?

But I must admit that in some of these pic posted he doesn't look all that bad.

He really isn't such a bad piece. I'd even go as far as saying it's a good piece but riddled with problems & disappointments.
The chosen color of paint isn't all that bad in person & sculpt is really something. The main problems are how this piece was assembled that sometimes there are gaps on the chest & how Sideshow's proto pics didn't match the end product. Having no pictures with the lighs-up feature off in the product page didn't help as well, since no one really knew there were orange paints around the eyes & chest area.

I'm gonna wait & see what Averone does with his before I repaint mine. The problem with Ultron overall paint scheme is that it looks like a one tone silver gloss finish. If Ultron is display near a shady area or in the dark
with the lights turned on, it looks great. But realistically the lights will never be turned on after i display it at home. The orange overspray on the chest is fine. What I don't like is how the eyes were done. I know what SsC was doing, but they should have left it out.

I stand corrected. The other statue I scored lower on SSC statues is the Rogue PF. I scored her a 4/10. But bison is still the worst statue I ever received.

I do think people are being really harsh on the paint job on this piece. The only areas that don't look like the prototype pics are the abdomen and neck area where they should be more of a blueish gray. Other than that I think the paint job is fine. The orange overspray has always been there and looks ok to me. I know no one is going to display Ultron with the lights on all the time, but if you think about the comics - Ultron ALWAYS has his lights on (it's what indicates he is "alive") and I think Sideshow designed this piece with this in mind. He looks absolutely incredible with the lights on.

Regarding using a peg instead of magnet for the arm, it might have something to do with the light up feature. Running wires close to a magnet/magnetic field is not good electrical practice. He does have magnets for the cape, but those are much smaller and weaker and further away from the wiring than an arm magnet would be.

Could have, should have, would have, but I still think this is a nice piece that I want to keep in my collection if I can get the replacement process finalized.

Agreed completely on everything you stated except the part that I wish SS had magnetize are the ears or at least they should have made the pegs shorter. It runs the risk of having the "peg holes" on his head getting easily broken.

If I can get one thats not scuffed, scratched, unpainted, or blotched with no gaps and working lights then I'll be completely satisfied with Ultron.

Re: My review of Ultron PF EX

Okay finally got Ultron 12/500. I have mis-feelings about this piece.

First impression is that base is huge & pretty nice. Ultron as expected had ok paint job but its no where near as good as the preview that we saw at SSC. I do not like the orange overspray on Ultron's eyes. It looks awful when the lights are turned off. No light issues on the statue or base though. Its too bad the paint job did not live up to the hype. The entire statue has silver glossy feel to it. Wish there was more of a metallic feel to it. The ear's of ultron was a b*tch to get in. I was very nervous on putting it in. It should not had been pegs used but magnets.

My Score on Ultron PF
Sculpt though is solid. I give it a 9/10
Paint 3/10

Overall 6/10.

The only statue that I ever recieved scored lower then Ultron was PCS Bison PF EX. I gave that piece of crap a 2/10.

Take pictures for us then... :pfft:

Yeah, the ears could have been magnets too for all those fat fingered collectors out there. :monkey3 :lol

I'm hoping he plummets on the aftermarket so that I can snag him.

Pretty sure that aftermarket values will make this one very affordable. The problem will be getting a good one though. It could be that examples that are without flaws or damages could become quite sought after.

Re: My review of Ultron PF EX

okay.... but it wouldn't get loaded till tomorrow

Sorry Pave. :(Strange there was no QC Sticker on this piece. I think its the first time I never seen one on a SSC statue?

Me too....I brought that up to customer service, but they didn't have much to say about it.

Damn, just noticed on the back of my Ultron shoulder, there is a small paint chip. :( However, if I am going to get it repainted, I don't think it's any good to ask for a replacement.

I hope someone will take it up to Sideshow and tell them that the QC on Ultron is probably at their worst.. Whoever is in charge of QC didn't do the job at all :slap

Yah its really unfortunate. Though Ultron is a disappointment, its still not as bad as the Rogue PF fiasco. The resculpt butt area & the goggly eyes was a huge blunder on SSC part.
