Wow! I always got the impression of one to two years max! I guess Luke needed a little time to become a Jedi! :horror

Just curious, not wanting to start yet another debate about SW, but is this actually stated in the movies, or does it come from background resources?

That info is from The Ultimate Visual Guide. The timeline was referenced in another book a while back also, but I can't remember which one.

A year? How did Han survive for so long? I thought it was shorter.

Re: Vader has left the building!!

Not sure how Han survived for so long. I guess it is easy to speculate that since he was perfectly frozen in carbonite, he was able to survive. I don't know. It's the SW Universe afterall. If we can suspend our disbelief for a moment and watch a gifted bunch of beings lift ships into the air because of an "all poweful force" then anything is possible. They're only movies. :)

Hey, didn't I read elsewhere in this thread that the base comes with a sheet of clear overlay to protect it? That isn't what you're describing, is it? If so, it should peel off.

HEY!!! Mine has that same problem with the spill. The Mouse Droid base is perfect, but Vader's base is raised up and "splotchy" on the clear coat.

I wasn't going to send mine back because you can't really see it, but now that I think about it, I probably should. It would hurt the long term value if I ever needed to sell it (Not that I plan to anytime soon, but you never know).

I think I will send mine back.

No, the overlay comes off when you unwrap the base. It's attached to a "Saran-Wrap" type of material. The overlay goes over the top, and then the wrap covers the rest of the base. Mine has damage just like described above to the base itself.

Mitt, what # did you get? Mine's in the low 200's, but I don't have it in the same room with me to check.

Re: Vader has left the building!!

Hey el! Can you post a pic or two of the base problem? I'm curious to see how it looks.

Does anyone else have this problem with their base?

Sure loading pics now. Just because it's you I'll do it Mini. ;)

Here you go:

It's pretty hard to capture, but you get the idea. It's basically a problem with the clear coat that goes over the paint. You can't see this when Vader is on display, but it IS damaged.

Here are some pics of my Vader in action from earlier.

Comparison with a few other statues:

Wow Elwood, just wow! Btw that's alot of weight your putting on those glass shelves. I was afraid to put them on top of those units thinking of the weight factor.

Nah, it's fine. The shelves have a 15 pound weight capacity. Notice that Vader is sitting on 2 shelves stacked together. He's too tall for the space, so I removed the shelf and doubled up on the one he's on. You also need to take into account that they tend to short change the weight bearing load for legal purposes.

I've had much heavier things on there than Vader, and those shelves have held up for quite some time. I know glass is an amorphous solid similar to a liquid and it will move, but I've doubled up on the shelves and can always flip them over to reverse the flow if I need to.

I know some people over at the StatueForum that use risers to put two 1/4 pieces on each shelf. It will work.

Re: Vader has left the building!!

Thanks for the pics el. I notice what you are talking about, but I don't see anything "raised" on it. Unfortunately, things like that do happen to these types of bases. I had something similar on a couple of my Code3 bases and also on a couple of the GG statue bases. I'm not sure what it is from, but I have seen it before.

I guess as long as I couldn't see it with the statue on it, I wouldn't worry about it. If you do return it, I hope you have better luck. :)

BTW, the display looks amazing. I was hoping someone would post a pic with one of the other SW PF statue's next to Vader. :D

It is raised, but as I said it's difficult to capture in pics due to the reflective base. It almost looks like air bubbles, but it's not. It's got to have something to do with the clear coat on top. The base on this is quite similar to the GG bases, so that's a good comparison. Did you return the ones you had a problem with? I wish I could just mail the base back and get a new one, but I'm sure SS will want the whole thing back.

It is a great piece, though. If I have some time tomorrow, I'll line up Vader, Luke, and Han. They look really good together. I can't wait for the next 3 to come in, and for the ToyFair announcement(s)!

Re: Vader has left the building!!

No, but the blemish wasn't raised on any of them. I would think that SS would just send you out a new base and then just have you send the defective one back. It would suck to have to ship the whole thing back. I'm still interested to hear if anyone else had this problem.

Again, thanks for the pics el. The statue looks amazing! Looking forward to seeing the line-up. :D

Re: Vader has left the building!!

My brother's is real bad:

He is returning it.

Mine has it but you only in a certain light...more or less like Elwood's piece.

Re: Vader has left the building!!

Eek, I would even hesitate to send those back, this has to be perfect! :google

In the ROTJ novel it mentions it also. I believe Han asks Luke or Lando how long he was in the carbonite. I'm not sure where in the book it happens. It's been almost 15 years since I read the book so my memory is a little vauge.

Wow, your brother's is much worse than mine. If yours has the same problem, then I guess it's somewhat widespread. My Mouse Droid has a perfect base.

I might just e-mail Jon at Sideshow and see what he says about it. Maybe someone at the SS Warehouse was using my Vader base as a coaster for their coffee? ;)
