Re: Vader has left the building!!

I'm sending mine back as well as the mouse droid has a huge splotch on it that covers most of the base. Vader has a couple splotches here and there on his base as well. It was the first thing I noticed when I took it out the box but ignored it to some extent since I was so excited. :(

He is returning it.

Mine has it but you only in a certain light...more or less like Elwood's piece.
that scratchy mess is what my smaller mouse base looks like.
elwood i think we have the same problem, mine looks almost identical and yes it would be hard to capture but i will try.
these bases are similar to the GG ones.i got a GG vader that i returned someone had gouged the mirrored base about 4 inches and colored over it with a sharpie:banghead

Not sure how Han survived for so long. I guess it is easy to speculate that since he was perfectly frozen in carbonite, he was able to survive. I don't know.

Maybe it's all the pies he must've eaten beforehand - slim Han in, pot-bellied Han out. Man, that hibernation must be well heavy in the carb department...

I just looked in SW Chronicles and Vader's boots are like this. You can see in one picture the straps holding the shin guard. I never would have noticed and I saw the exhibit at The Brooklyn Museum.:google

I really hope I can keep my Mouse Droid base. Mine is PERFECT. I bet this clear coat "spill" will be a widespread problem. Since SS has a 30 day return policy, I might wait to see just how many have this problem. I don't want to send my Vader back and get a base that is worse.:sick

I'd be sad to be without Vader for a few weeks also. It's such a cool piece, and would leave a big gap in my display.

Re: Vader has left the building!!

I just received my Vader today and he had medium sized chip missing on the foot with a scratch on the base as well. I couldn't find the piece in the box so I have to return mine as well.

Sideshow's customer service was fantastic so I'm not worried.

Question: Will I receive the same numbered piece back or a new number?

Re: Vader has left the building!!

Are they actual cracks or is it something a clearcoat polish can fix up?

I have returned items for replacement twice from Sideshow. Both times, I received different (higher) edition numbers.

,,,correct....but i ain't talking about the straps,..but the junction,...,.make it look like he's with shoes and black socks,... instead of boots,..

Re: Vader has left the building!!

My Mouse Droid base was perfect out of the box...The next morning after I set it up...
I foudn that the weight of the mouse droid imprinted tire tracks into the base...
WTF???
Anyone else have this particular problem? I saw some of your bases...my looks different...it looks like the weight of the droid was too heavy and sunk into the base....really strange!

Re: Vader has left the building!!

wookilar8: Yeah, it is a shame that some of the complainers don't even know what they are talking about. There are some legitimate complaints, but complaining about the boots when they know nothing of the original costume is just silly. It's really simple to just ask a question or buy a book. :)

BTW, anyone from the second wave get theirs shipped yet?

Re: Vader has left the building!!

I think it's silly that Sideshow didn't emulate the costume for ANH, or any other Star Wars movie for that matter. And now, because of this, some people here are calling it the 'definitive' Vader, rather than a costume reproduction. But if that is the case, why bother making strap on boot facades. If Vader existed in real life, he would obviously be wearing real boots and not something to fit within the costume department's budget.

I really don't understand what you are saying. You say it's silly that SS didn't emulate the ANH costume, but then later you say "he would obviously be wearing real boots and not something to fit within the costume department's budget." You realize that those are contradictory statements right? You can't have an accurate representation of a prop, then want an idealized version also.

I really don't understand why people are so concerned with the boots. They are a non-issue in person and look good. I didn't even look at the back of the boots until someone posted a picture.

If you have Han, then his boots are more of an issue than Vader's. The way the leather and polystone connect on them is somewhat strange, but only very close up. Vader's boots are very well done.

Sorry Elwood, but if you read my post correctly, you will realize that I am not contradicting myself.

People are defending Sideshow's product by saying it is not a costume reproduction, but rather a 'definitive' Vader that represents Vader as a character. But if that was the case--if they really were trying to make Vader as a definitive representation of the character, he would be wearing boots and not shin guards.

So when you say, "You can't have an accurate representation of a prop, then want an idealized version also." It can be stated that Sideshow accomplished neither of those goals.

Yet, A) everyone who has received this piece is more than happy with it, 2) this is still sold out, and C) many collector's are now trying to aquire this or the regular version. Whether you feel SS acomplished their goals or not, doesn't change any of those things.

As for "he should be wearing boots" I may have missed the "book of rules" where it states that when making a Vader statue. If that is a feature that doesn't appeal to you then don't buy it. It's that simple. Complaining about it won't change the piece, nor will it change the overwhelming positive response it has received from those who have it.

Dude, is there any reason why you continue to try stirring up s**t by bashing this statue every single day? You don't like it, we get it. Move along! :banghead

Oh, and by the way, do a little research............VADER WORE SHIN GUARDS!

Re: Vader has left the building!!

So back to Vader leaving the building...

Wave One shipped a week ago. Wave Two was bumped up to only a one week delay. Does that mean that some of us might get shipping notices tonight? Pretty please?

Right, but Vader wore shin guards, hence the contradiction. I read your post 5 times, and it still made no sense.

Here are what Vader's shin guards looked like in the movie:

No offense, but the evidence you offered on the accuracy of the Medicom Vader was just flat out wrong. I'll stick to what CKing, Mini, Gruson, Brent 72, and others have said. At least they actually offer proof to back up their words.

If you want me to dig up more references, then I can, but please quit making all of these claims without any sort of pics/evidence to back them up. :peace
