what's doom worth now?

Hmmm... good post. However... The 1st piece is art. The 1st sculpt, the 1st paint, the 1st photo. That's the art. The rest are merchandise. If all copies were art then the original painting of the mona lisa would not be worth a penny more than the countless pictures and copies of it. But that is not the case is it? Just because technology allows you to copy your work over and over again, so you can sell it over and over again, does not mean that you are selling pieces of art. The 1st sculpt of Doom or Hulk etc is what I call the original art piece. The hundreds of others are mere copies. And as for your toy argument. I'm sorry but it is a toy. Just because you wouldn't give it to your child to play doesn't mean it's not a toy, it means it's an adult toy, an expensive toy. And the reason people are not playing with them is because they've cost so much and there aren't many to go around if it breaks. It's sideshowtoy.com not sideshowart.com for a reason.

Sounds like a bitter bee who doesn't have a Doom themselves. *hugs doom Exclusive* :D:lol

You know what I find so amusing- is that there are definitely two camps in this thread. Those that have and those that have not. I don't know if it's the jealousy talking or what but those that don't have a Doom themselves sound really bitter. Maybe they want one but can't afford one so they have resorted to denial and hatred? It's possible. I think it's an amazing statue. I also think it's art. If it was just a toy that you could hand to a child then it definitely wouldn't be selling for $1300 it would be mass produced, easy to find, and have some type of action function like a super action powered kick. :lol

Just take it easy guys and let those that have Doom enjoy their work of art if that is how they view it. :duff

first, don't take an aggressive posture with me bud! i'll steal your girlfriend! :lol

second, i'm laughing at the hype still surrounding a statue that isn't worth $1300. so here's some rolling laughs for your confrontational immaturity and the suckers still overpaying for doom.

:rotfl :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl

IN YOUR OPINION it may not be worth a certain amount, that does not discount anyone elses opinion or lessen it in anyway, nor does it make them 'suckers' or give you the right to laugh at them for spending money on it.

Personally I don't think a small piece of bronze that looks somewhat remotely like a big chinned Hellboy is worth $800, but thats my opinion and I use it tactfully, maybe you should try it sometime.

:peace

If you want to look at it this way I'd say there are three camps. Those that have, Those that want, and Those that kick themselves but aren't jealous. I fall into the third. I'm glad those that have it enjoy it and they should. I know I would be. I have the Original Balrog and Cave Troll from the SSW LOTR line and I love having them. I'm sure there are the same camps for those but I don't get worked up over people wanting them. I'm just glad I was lucky enough to get both.

i freely admit i don't have a doom pf and i'm bitter! bah!

seriously, it is an amazing looking piece. i personally like the hulk better but that's b/c the hulk is my favorite marvel character and not doom. as far as 'worth' i don't understand all the hullabaloo over it or what someone might be williing to pay. i mean it's their money right? if they don't have misgivings about what they spend why should anyone else? if later i'm stressing about a purchase i obviously spent too much and it wasn't 'worth' it...regardless of what the market-price says i should pay. i just paid way more for my hulk pf than anything i have ever purchased collectible-wise. my wife doesn't get it but i think it was a great deal and totally 'worth' it. and as far as being a 'toy'...i guess it is in the sense a new boat or motorcycle is a 'toy' meaning an item of pleasure and pastime or diversion...but i don't see it as a toy in the literal since. maybe if his arm moved or something. i also don't think you have to own the initial production piece to have a piece of art.

I was just about to bring up the original Balrog. I would say it's close to the same situation. :)

isn't every post on what a statue is worth opinion and perception? just like it's my 'OPINION' that anyone who spends that much on doom is a sucker. and it seems that i should be able to laugh at anyone i choose in this world. is laughing moderated too? maybe you should also point out in your client's defense that he replied in an aggressive manor as a reaction to my opinion. or are opinions the right of only the privileged here? he has also wished that i attend sdcc, so he can further confront my 'opinion'. and that's an acceptable practice as well?

as far as hellboy is concerned. the bust was created from the comic book version of hellboy by mike mignola. i appreciate your tact is stating that your opinion is he has a big chin.

The Kurgan himself couldn't take Jen away from me. So some little ^^^^^ who thinks he's tough because he has a computer to hind behind sure as hell isn't worth worrying about.

It's posts like this that just prove to the rest of the world what a pathetic piece of ^^^^ you are.

And trust me, I don't need to go to the mods. They know how worthless you are and are monitoring you more closely than you might think.
