Ironman is the best comic book adaption to date. From go to whoa it swept me up and carried me like a surfer upon a wave, head in the clouds, and dropped off on dry land. The Dark Knight was hype upon hype till Heath died, then it was down played hype, the best kind, to suck in the hoardes. They played it well, but there were too many holes in the Dark Knight, too much detail swept under the rug. I didn't think Heath did anything outstanding, he just acted the part. That's what an actor does, and he did it well. Same for Robert. Anyone could be in the Ironman suit and it would have been as good. Robert just naturally fell into it. Right age, right look, right history. Ironman, ftw, though Batman has always been up there in the top three superheroes popularity poles since he was invented. Which makes Ironman all the more impressive to reach this height.

But again, it is NOT his last performance.

And I don't see IM making 500 mil with a death.

Don't matter if it was his last film.
It was the closest movie release to his death.

Didn't say DK was bad.
Maybe IM would not have raked 500 mil or whatever, it is a big what if.
Maybe DK would not have made that cash if Ledger lived.
Never know.
But those that say the movie was strong enough to carry the numbers it did without the death are not being true to anyone.

Well TDK was Ledgers FINAL completed role.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus he didnt finish. I highly doubt thats going to make a killing.

Does anyone realize that Heath was playing THE JOKER? One of THE most popular comic book villians of ALL TIME? Everyone and their mothers know the Joker. People wanted to see The Joker again. Or for the first time, or whatever. If Heath played someone like Sal Maroni, it wouldnt change things, because despite the death, Heath was playing the freaking Joker.

Actually when it was announced that the Joker was going to be done again, there was some fan backlash/dread because of what Jack did for the Joker with Keaton.

The Excitement over Joker was not anticipated until the first trailer for DK appeared.

Good hype, bad hype, hype was there. And yes, it REALLY got going with the trailer, and the 6 minute IMAX thing.

oh, TDK fo sho

But both were wonderful in their own way. We definitely needed Iron Man in Marvel land after the stinkfest that was Spidey 3.

And TDK is simply the finest comic book film ever.

Either way, it is a poll on which do you PREFER, not which was BETTER.

Either way you look at it, PREFER or BETTER, Iron Man owns it.

Get over it Noob.
Pick your Batman under-roos outta yer butt and move on.

Well...mabye one more little comment...

(I lied)

And theres not a damn thing wrong with that. Heck, I like Spider-Man more then Batman Begins! So....heh. .

I prefer TDK. I grew up on Batman, Superman, Spiderman, & Hulk since I was a kid. To be honest, I didn't even know who Iron Man was until the movie was announced by it's studio. After giving it a view, I liked the Iron Man movie alot and was my second favorite 2008 summer release but not before The Dark Knight.

Wheee! I loved Begins.....a lot. But I dont know, Spider-Man has always been my favorite. (until Iron Man and TDK came along)

Anyone who thinks it would not have folded is cinematically illiterate. Thanks for proving the point. BTW, what other actors? Bale and a bunch of 2nd-4th tier actors.

2nd-4th tier?
Michael Caine?
Morgan Freeman?
Gary Oldman?
Aaron Eckhart?

I don't want to be harsh, but using the phrase "cinematically illiterate" and calling these guys 2nd-4th tier actors is a bit...ironic?

I voted for that Joker movie...

...wait...Batman was in it?

Actually, Ledger's performance was so incredible, I really spent most of the movie focusing on him rather than Christian Bale. Heath was absolutely the star of the movie - very glad to see his last role be such an impressive performance.

Dave, not a horrible actor in the group but if you think any of them are A list actors...well, I don't want to be harsh either, but maybe I was right. Oldman and Freeman are the best actors in the group and Oldman's Gordon plain out sucks. Weak candy ass. I love Freeman, but in TDK? Flat. Eric Roberts doesn't even make a tier. He's in the bleachers.

I think someone's alittle cranky that his superhero got his ass whooped in everything so he made this thread to whine and complain.. eventually leading to a war..

and btw Gary Oldman's gordon was amazing.
