Nope. I seem to remember a time when Ledger was alive....hmm....December correct? The trailer and the first 6 minutes were shown...and hmm....people were going nuts over his proformece *GASP* before he died! Yes, his death brought some of the fans who probably wouldnt see the movie, but wanted to see Ledger one more time....true.
But thats not a HUGE majority. Im sure if you recommended this to someone you wouldnt say "Oh this movie has a dead guy in it. Go see it."

No, but if you said it had a dead guy in his last, greatest performance, to a person who was a fan of said dead guy, they would see it. Alot of Internet nerds were wowed by the trailer and I'm sure general audiences were too, but him dying, ultimately made this a must-see film to alot of people

Without Ledger dying, TDK would have been big, but probably not "ONE OF THE HIGHEST GROSSING MOVIES OF ALL TIME" big.

Yeah because everyone saw it a billion times just to watch for a dead guy. Not enjoy the movie at all.

That movie with the guy who came back, the Crow one? I've seen it about a billion times. Only because theres a dead guy in it. I dont know what its about...but its got a dead guy in it.

TDK and IM are on completely different level when it comes to depths, character development and plot line. IM had great CGI and some good quirky humor, but the script was kind of lame, not to mention the ending. With TDK, the only bad thing I can think of was Maggie G. Other then that it is one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. No comparison.

Right, and no one (other than you) said it was a "HUGE majority". But there is no way the movie would have made as much as it has if he had lived. $400 million? Very likely. $450 million? Possible, but not probable. $500 million? Not a chance.

i actually saw it because i like the movie not because brandon died ( oh snap!)

(So did I. It was sarcasim)

Theres a reason it did so well. Because it was freaking good. And people saw it more then once. I know a kid who NEVER sees a movie more then once in the theaters, he's seen it 4 times. Because Ledger died? ^^^^ no. Because he, like most people, loved the hell out of it.

If RDJ died after making Iron Man, would it have made 500 mil?

Probably, yeah. It was good; had a character that hadn't been on film before; had a positive message; and Downey is one of our great working actors today.

How could you like the movie before you saw it?
I saw it because I like Brandon Lee and the graphic novel.

Anyways........

DK had a good trailer.
Drums some excitement.
Ledger passes away, now a ton of buzz on movie.
Then talk of an Oscar for the deceased.
Ledger's last performance is the must see summer movie.
Had Ledger been in Hulk or Iron Man, or dare I say Sex In the City,
gotta strong feeling they woulda had the biggest draw.

Not saying DK was a bad movie.
Ledger's death, sadly enough, brought a ton of publicity to the movie.
Without Ledger's buzz, just another summer movie.

You seem to be getting a little too worked up about this. It's a movie, not a religion. Other people are going to have different perspectives, and differing opinions from yours. That doesn't make you "right" and us "wrong".

Well TDK was Ledgers FINAL completed role.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus he didnt finish. I highly doubt thats going to make a killing.

Does anyone realize that Heath was playing THE JOKER? One of THE most popular comic book villians of ALL TIME? Everyone and their mothers know the Joker. People wanted to see The Joker again. Or for the first time, or whatever. If Heath played someone like Sal Maroni, it wouldnt change things, because despite the death, Heath was playing the freaking Joker.

You can view it all you want, point is, his death didnt give the movie $400 million.
