Re: Which Superman Movie is your favorite Superman movie?

Nah, I'm sorry for your loss. I think both of them are superb. The original is fantastic and the second is a great follow up. You're the one that's missing out.

And what's with this Walking Dead crap? :lol

Is it because Gale Hurd produced? You gotta hard on for her or something? I guess I can sort of see why you wouldn't like T2, she wasn't involved. Cameron dropped her for Hamilton. Is that it?

I mean, Walking Dead is about a man (Rick) trying to get back to his family. It's about survival and about loss with faith thrown in. The show thrives on character relationships. It's a zombie television show. It's based on a successful comic.

Terminator is about two time travelers sent back to destroy/protect the future. The future in this case being a young woman. Both of the unborn enemies inadvertently create each other by sending the time travelers through time. It's a sci-fi, horror, love story. It's about the dark sides of technology. It's a cyborg film. It's based on the nightmares of a Canadian truck driver turned director.

Okay so you are unable to grasp the concept of two overlapping genres having a similar tone and filmmaking methodology. No point in belaboring the issue then, especially in a Superman thread.

I forget what it was, but you did the same crazy thing when you were talking about classics and dissing Batman '89. Some weird *** comparison between how you'd rank Fellowship along side of Raiders of the Lost Ark or Jaws or some ****. I dunno. You get caught up on "classics" and "street cred", but when it comes to things like Superman '78 or T2 or Batman '89, they don't count? I just don't know and I'm sort of trying to understand where you're at here.

Oh I only put street cred and classics in quotes when someone is invoking them to impress others. Otherwise there are great old movies, great new ones, and a hell of a lot of mediocre and crappy ones in between.

When I watched Raiders in IMAX everyone was totally into it, laughing at the right lines and so forth. When I attended a screening of STM a few years back people were guffawing AT the movie, not with it. Now don't get me wrong, I like STM. It has its charm and perfect lead and iconic score and it created the template that almost all other superhero films follow. But just because you like a couple old movies does not suddenly make them Raiders or Jaws. Sorry.

Batman 89? Terminator 2? Yeah not quite.

Re: Which Superman Movie is your favorite Superman movie?

I think the problem is, people today can't enjoy things unless they're depressing or dark.

No fun allowed.

Re: Which Superman Movie is your favorite Superman movie?

Hmmm, since I don't remember every little thing Terminator, is this worth seeing:

On the 'Ultimate Edition' DVD as well as the 'Skynet Edition' Blu-ray, there are three versions of the film, albeit only two at the menu, the Theatrical and Special Edition versions. However, highlighting the 'Special Edition' option and keying in '82997' (August 29, 1997), will open a Extended Special Edition Option, with the T-1000 searching John's room and an Alternate ending added on and replaced. Some DVD players may need to push ENTER between each digit.

The Avengers was the ultimate exception to the rule. I have no idea how that movie made any money. Avengers 2 will take place in a crack ally way though.

Re: Which Superman Movie is your favorite Superman movie?

Was Avatar the ultimate exception to the rule too? Because its interesting that the crowd pleasing "exceptions" are the ones absolutely obliterating box office records, not dark and depressing fare.

Re: Which Superman Movie is your favorite Superman movie?

They were. But in a different time. They stood out.

I get that you weren't born so you don't remember but the early 90's had some of the most depressing films ever. Silence of the Lambs, Batman Returns, Alien 3, Schindler's List, The Crow, Se7en. Returns was hardly an "exception" for its time.

I suppose Batman 89 was a bit dark but nothing like a certain superhero movie a couple years prior about a guy named Alex Murphy. It was also following in the footsteps of Aliens, Predator, Die Hard, and a ton of nasty Viet Nam flicks. In some ways Batman was kind of light compared to what had preceded.

In the superhero area. I meant.

I was born then. But I wouldn't know what a Batman was.

I wasn't being serious.

Re: Which Superman Movie is your favorite Superman movie?

I figured setting Avengers in a crack ally would have been the key to break the post. But I guess not. :lol

And you didn't get my This is The End joke either.

Re: Which Superman Movie is your favorite Superman movie?

Well the big nipples are screen accurate.

The Terminator needs something to hang his jacket on.
