Re: Which Superman Movie is your favorite Superman movie?
Okay so you are unable to grasp the concept of two overlapping genres having a similar tone and filmmaking methodology. No point in belaboring the issue then, especially in a Superman thread.
Oh I only put street cred and classics in quotes when someone is invoking them to impress others. Otherwise there are great old movies, great new ones, and a hell of a lot of mediocre and crappy ones in between.
When I watched Raiders in IMAX everyone was totally into it, laughing at the right lines and so forth. When I attended a screening of STM a few years back people were guffawing AT the movie, not with it. Now don't get me wrong, I like STM. It has its charm and perfect lead and iconic score and it created the template that almost all other superhero films follow. But just because you like a couple old movies does not suddenly make them Raiders or Jaws. Sorry.
Batman 89? Terminator 2? Yeah not quite.
Nah, I'm sorry for your loss. I think both of them are superb. The original is fantastic and the second is a great follow up. You're the one that's missing out.
And what's with this Walking Dead crap?
Is it because Gale Hurd produced? You gotta hard on for her or something? I guess I can sort of see why you wouldn't like T2, she wasn't involved. Cameron dropped her for Hamilton. Is that it?
I mean, Walking Dead is about a man (Rick) trying to get back to his family. It's about survival and about loss with faith thrown in. The show thrives on character relationships. It's a zombie television show. It's based on a successful comic.
Terminator is about two time travelers sent back to destroy/protect the future. The future in this case being a young woman. Both of the unborn enemies inadvertently create each other by sending the time travelers through time. It's a sci-fi, horror, love story. It's about the dark sides of technology. It's a cyborg film. It's based on the nightmares of a Canadian truck driver turned director.

I forget what it was, but you did the same crazy thing when you were talking about classics and dissing Batman '89. Some weird *** comparison between how you'd rank Fellowship along side of Raiders of the Lost Ark or Jaws or some ****. I dunno. You get caught up on "classics" and "street cred", but when it comes to things like Superman '78 or T2 or Batman '89, they don't count? I just don't know and I'm sort of trying to understand where you're at here.
